So, that was a thing that happened. With the children.

Tony was just going to repress the vast majority of it in a completely healthy fashion as he did research at work. Research into things like Osborn and SHIELD and any shady ass genetics labs that needed to be blown up. He was multitasking, really. Getting all sorts of things accomplished.

Repressing the full spectrum of human emotion.

Multitasking.

There had been radio this morning, and it had said Kathy's world - which Raven was in! - was cut off. A trip to Portalocity had verified that.

Well, they might be idiots, but Jalian wasn't going to give up her friend without a fight! Her more-or-less academic work on a new Doorway had just become more important.

So, here she was at Stark's, marching in with a purpose. "You have parts for machines here?"

"Parts? Lots," Tony replied, minimizing the files he'd been looking at with a thought. "What are you looking to build exactly?"

If it was something to tear apart the very fabric of reality, he reserved the right to say no.

It wouldn't tear it, just travel through it.

"A Doorway." Jalian eyed him. She didn't expect he'd understand, but she had been surprised before. "For searching and traveling timelines."

Yeeeeah, that was close enough to it.

Tony sighed, sitting back and rubbing his forehead because he was getting a lot of stress headaches lately. "Why are we travelling timelines?"

Jalian narrowed her eyes at him. "We are not. I intend to find my friend. Do you have parts or not? I need wiring, vacuum tubes, metal for soldering..." she rattled off a list.

And Tony pretty much only looked amused by the glare. That was nice, solid ground for him.

"Like I said, I have the parts," he replied. "You haven't really explained the why. Time travel isn't really something to mess with."

"Not time travel." Jalian made a cutting gesture. "Timelines." What else did they call them here? "Worlds. Dimensions. This one has the same entropic signature as the one I'm looking for; there will be no time shift."

How many questions was this man going to ask?

As many as he needed to!

"And you're not going through Portalocity?" He was probably still in a lawsuit with them, so that didn't particularly bother him. "They're slightly less prone to accidentally dumping you in a wasteland of cosmic horror than learning the dimensional coordinates on your own."

He learned that one with the Negative Zone. Oh, and Jessica's homemade portal.

"They," she said in scorn, "will not go. And I will use a probe first! I have no intention of ending up in the wrong place."

"Why won't they go?" Because he knew one instance was due to a complete lack of a world.

[kenselvren]

Jalian sighed. "They worry about zombies. I'm not letting zombies trap my friend!" She scowled. "Are you going to give me parts, or should I go another place?"

"Zombies." Well. Of course this would be the way things were going for him. Of course.

He sighed, running through JARVIS' inventory of what they had on hand. Probably enough to keep the suit in fighting shape for at least a month if he was careful, but...

He had such a bleeding heart, it was sad.

"I really don't think you understand how a business works," he muttered. "If you do your work here, then you can have access to my materials."

Also supervised by JARVIS so that nothing blew up, taking half the island with it.

It was highly unlikely Tony's suit ran on vacuum tubes, at least.

Jalian narrowed her eyes at him. She could use someplace better than her room or the common area for this, though... "Fine. I have money," she added in afterthought.

She still thought money was pretty darn funny.

"Hey," Jessica said, showing up with, sadly, only enough coffee for herself. "I'm not used to you getting here before me on a Tuesday."

"I do live here." And didn't have anything to distract him which made him end up working.

"Yeah, but still," Jessica said. "You're usually upstairs or downstairs. Not right in the middle."

"By the way, our son made notes on all my plans. I'm blaming your genes for that."

"That's fair," Tony admitted. "How are we looking on that?"

"He made a couple good suggestions," Jessica admitted. "So the plan to get to Maya is solid now. "We're good to get her as soon as you're ready to travel to, ugh, Newark."

While being a tool about it. Because that was their Petey.

"New Jersey?" Tony sighed. "Let me get some things in order today and we'll be good to move."

"I can set up a portal with, ugh, Portalocity," Jessica said. "Keep the reservation in one of my aliases just in case HAMMER pulls any records."

"Good plan." It was almost like she was a spy! "I'm looking into the digital footprints left behind last week. They couldn't hide everything on paper."

"Find anything good so far?" Jessica checked.

"Hundreds upon hundreds of shipping receipts." Which was so fun to sort through.

"You're not going to ask me to help sort through that if I stay here, are you?" Jessica checked.
