Another week, another look at Jessica's own blood. She was having some luck with a device that could analyze a sample, then apply the same neutralizing technology that was active in the Trooper Station's cells to see how it reacted with the OZ in the blood restricted. With this, she was able to compare the differences in the blood because, you know, science, and this sciencely got her to science out the beginnings of reverse engineering the OZ formula. Science.

But it would be helpful to have something to compare this formula against. Unfortunately, the OZ formula on her world went away when her world did and…. Nope, still gone. On the other hand, she did have an inside track on a world that definitely DID exist and featured Norman Osborn as the Green Goblin.

"Hey, JARVIS. In all of Tony's recon on Osborn, did he manage to track down any secret labs Norman might have?" Somebody was looking to guest star on another Earth again.

[OOC: Open shop! Although Jessica will be ducking out immediately after work.]

You know, Tamsin hadn't bothered Tony in a while. Which she'd felt compelled to do after that weird reunion weekend, which of course meant she'd stubbornly refused to do it for at least a week.

Aaaand... no Tony here.

"Jessica?"

Not that the alternative was terrible.

"Hey, Tamsin," Jessica called out. "How's it going?"

"Find the five labs farthest from known HAMMER installations," she whispered to JARVIS before getting up to meet Tamsin.

"I was looking to bug your boss," Tamsin said, walking towards the counter. "But he's not here and you're prettier, so I think I'm good now. What's up?"

"Don't let him hear you say that. The competition for Prettiest Worker of the Month is fierce," Jessica joked. "I'm just working on my latest personal project so I can ignore a box full of broken toasters someone dropped off this morning."

"Does anyone at this place actually repair stuff anymore?" Tamsin wondered. "Not judging, I'm just curious."

Moreso about the personal project than about whether or not anyone did any actual repairs, but that wouldn't have allowed as much opportunity for snark.

"They do," Jessica said. "Enough to keep the lights on, at least. But I'm technically middle management, I think? I get to focus on my own stuff, paperwork, and trying not to start interdimensional lawsuits."

"So what're you working on, besides souping up the Trooper Station?" Tamsin said. "Pretend like I get the science nerd details."

"I'm attempting to reverse engineer the formula that altered my genetics to give me my superpowers so I can test it and see what other side effects it might have because I recently found out that I can come back from the dead. Or, at least, that I could once. I haven't tried it a second time."

Things had happened since the last time Jessica had chatted with Tamsin.

... A few. Apparently.

"Are you telling me you're a zombie now?" Tamsin said.

Once she finished her flat what stare, which was just obligatory in this case, really.

"No, I'm... re-alive, I guess. Not undead." She pointed to her chest where her scar was covered by her shirt and explained. "A person on another world shot an energy blast clear through my chest. I woke up a week later, all life processes going. All body parts that would have been gone, back where they were. It's a kind of enhanced healing factor that kicks in when life signs stop, as near as I can tell."

"That's got to be the shittiest superpower," Tamsin said. "I mean, you're not dead, great. But you were dead, which is a pain in the ass."

She'd know!

"Personally, I'll take it," Jessica said. "I just want to make sure I'm not taking anything else with it. The only other person I know who had this in their system and came back from the dead was so nutty that school kids couldn't go near him for fear of allergies."

"Which would definitely cost you points in the Prettiest Worker of the Month pool," Tamsin said dryly. "Yeah, I get it."

"Crazy can be hot," Jessica pointed out. "But I don't want to find out if I can make it work for me."

"So, how've you been?" She was just eschewing segues. Eschewing!

"Exceptionally bored and covered in paperwork," Tamsin said. "Every time I think I've hit the weirdest stuff, something new just falls in my lap. And then I feel a strong urge to drink."

She eyed Jessica. "I was thinking about asking you to come drink near me sometime, but you've clearly been busy."

Being dead and coming back to life, despite not being a Valkyrie. This island, man.

"I'd enjoy that, but I definitely need a raincheck," Jessica said. "I've got an errand to run tonight that has at least a small chance of getting me thrown in a super prison on an alternate world."

"Currently a fifteen percent chance," JARVIS offered.

"Let's try to get that number down," Jessica requested.

"Raincheck," Tamsin agreed. "And I've heard worse odds. Stealing things errand or punching someone in the face errand?"

"Stealing things from the evil guy in charge of a giant spy organization," Jessica said. "Should be a quick smash and grab, but if things to screwy it might lead to a whole lot of punching."

"Hot," Tamsin deadpanned. "And likely to go screwy. But you look like you have it handled."

"Not quite yet. But I'm still on the clock for a few hours," Jessica said. "That's more than enough time for me to get my plan nailed down."

"A girl who actually knows how to prep instead of storming the castle," Tamsin said. "I'm impressed."

"I was trained in strategy by the best my world had to offer," Jessica said with a pseudo-humble shrug. "And not to brag too much, but I've always been a good student."

"Oh, I've met generals who told me the same, then immediately turned around and marched into the nearest trap," Tamsin said, rolling her eyes. "Guys."

"If I'm back tomorrow, you'll know that didn't happen to me," Jessica joked. "Or at least I was good enough to escape the trap."

"Please do," Tamsin said. "It'd suck if I had to extend my tactical eyeroll to multiple sexes again."
