The park, Saturday
After radio, Cecil found his luggage (it hadn't wandered far) and headed for a walk. He really needed to find a place to stay, but all the portal travel and everything was a bit hectic, and some time to just sit seemed nice.
So, he found a bench in the park, dropped his things nearby, and set about watching the ducks. Oo, there was quite a bit of void up there! Maybe he'd do some screaming into it later.

The park, at least, promised to be fairly quiet. And the birds in it were calming, if noisy. And awkward. And... right. The bench was being taken up by some guy and his luggage.
Ah well. Might as well be polite about it.
"Hey. The birds aren't doing tricks there or something, are they?"
... For certain values of 'polite,' anyway.

He belatedly realized he was taking up most of the bench. "Oh! Sorry. Did you want to sit?" He shifted his things to one side, setting them on the grass to leave room on the bench.

What a week.
"Some days, you just really need to sit and stare at birds."
Ducks. That was what a duck was. Good to know.

"Oh, yes. Sometimes it's relaxing. And sometimes you need to make sure they're not actually plotting to overthrow the world." Cecil shrugged. "Hi; I'm Cecil." He stuck out his hand.

It was a large bird, Kanan. Brace yourself.

Said the guy who grabbed a lightsaber and a holocron and that was it, and called that good enough to live on.

That was a new one, even to him.
"I guess, uh... coming to somewhere that you won't be alone is probably a good start when it comes to dealing with something like that?"
Kanan really wouldn't know. He was going out on a limb, here.

Kanan, you didn't even know the worst of it yet.
"So, are you waiting for somebody, here?"
Was that what all the luggage was about? Holding out for someone to help him haul it to wherever he was moving?

Kanan's 'basic human decency' setting was rearing up. Brace yourself, Cecil.
"You mean you came here with all of your things and you hadn't sorted that out first?"
Kanan's own arrival had been different, damn it. He hadn't intended to show up here in the first place, and there had already been a room arranged for him. Even if that didn't make any sense.

"Well, if you can't find anything, I have a place. I mean, it's not big. But there's a bedroom and a study. The study could probably have a bed hauled into it."
It would be like living in one of the dozens of flophouses he'd called temporary home over the years. Only potentially cleaner. No big deal.

It wasn't like he had anything to hide, right?
Sigh.
"Odds are I won't be here for long anyway. Somebody might as well get use out of the apartment if the island ends up somewhere I might want to stay behind on."

"I get anxious," Kanan replied. "I don't settle well, I need to be on the move more often than not. So I might get that itch again to just... go somewhere."
The proper phrasing here should have been 'to just run away and hide like a coward.'

They were incorrigible people.
"And you?"

"... By proxy, I suppose. I will, at least, have a co-teacher."
That was good, right?

... The rest of it wasn't actually that weird.

"Oh, yes!" He sighed. "I've tried to find someplace to do them like that, but I haven't yet. Then again, there are a lot of places to look, so you never know."

Since he'd apparently impulsively just gained himself a roommate, it seemed like the logical offer to make.

Maybe he should have suggested that Cecil go pay Master Kenobi a visit. Anything big enough to carry that would probably be better off outside with the eopies.
"Do you, uh, suppose he'll be long?"

If the saddlebags were any indication.

A couch would, so far as places that Kanan had slept in his lifetime went, be practically classy.

"I insist," he replied, shrugging it off. "I need to work in the morning anyway. No sense in me waking you up if I have to go through the living room while you're still asleep."
And it wasn't like he had any clothes in the bedroom that he needed to get. And any of his more personal effects were still in the Expedient, safe and sound, all the better for him making a quick getaway if there was ever any need for it.
