Eliot was only slightly hungover today. Mostly because by the time he got home yesterday, Parker the ferret had started dragging water glasses over to him every five minutes. Even animaled, she was keeping an eye out for him.

When she wasn't dragging Hardison around the house by his teddy bear ear, anyway.

Eliot had them both with him at Luke's again today, much to the kitchen staff's amusement. Parker bounded after him and hissed any time he got close to anything alcoholic, though he was done doing his Nate impersonation, now. Hardison was propped in place of pride on top of the pastry case, where Eliot could see him from most places in the diner.

"You run for the vents again," he told Parker, "and I'm getting you a leash."

Parker snickered at him and stole his keys.

He's hoping no one asks him what scrapple is.

Well, Tony grew up in Manhattan and could more accurately tell you what was in pâté than in scrapple. So.

"I don't think I've ever walked into something normal here," he said instead.

Eliot looked up from talking to a ferret in the shadow of a teddy bear and shrugged. "Honestly, it'd probably be weird if you did."

Okay, that was true.

Tony eyed the ferret and the the teddy bear for a moment before accepting the crazy guy on radio's word on the matter. "At least no one is throwing baked goods this time."

"Not on my watch. They wouldn't dare."

They absolutely would dare, but they felt sorry for him, today.

"What can I getcha?"

Tony brightened up a bit at that. "I'm awake for breakfast, so let's go with that."

It was because breakfast was all day and Steve had not dragged him out running at dawn.

"It's a breakfast kinda day," Eliot agreed. "Take it you ain't usually up in time for eggs?"

"I tend to see dawn from the wrong side of the day," he admitted with a moderately sheepish grin. "If left to my own devices."

That was why he had an AI butler and a personal assistant. That right there.

"See, that's exactly why I used to only sleep 90 minutes a night," Eliot said. "You get kinda the best of both worlds."

And you ended up dependent on stimulants, because only sleeping 90 minutes a night was actually a really really stupid idea.

"And a lecture on sleep deprivation." Or was that just him?

"Eventually," Eliot agreed. "When I stopped bein' too paranoid to have people around willin' to lecture me."

Parker chittered something that might be an agreement and tried to pull Eliot's bracelet off his wrist with her teeth.

Tiny glanced down at her with an amused look. "Any idea how long these things last?"

"Too damn long," Eliot said, gently detaching Parker from his bracelet. She immediately bounded off again to pout while curled up around Hardison. "Last time it was at least a coupla weeks. I was only a wolverine for somethin' like five days, though." He gave the Hardison bear a grumpy side-eye. "Never seen the inanimate thing, though. So no tellin' on that."

"A wolverine?" ...yeah, he could see that. Kinda looked like Logan too! "Well, hopefully sooner than later. Hate to lose my internet ethics debate partner."

Hey, he was totally at least half a foot taller than Logan!

"The internet has ethics?"

Everything Eliot knew about computers he'd learned from Hardison.

"It can," Tony replied with a grin. "Just stay away from Reddit."

"That ain't likely to be a problem for me." Eliot probably wouldn't know where to start with Reddit. He was kind of a luddite.

"Technology bad?" Tony guessed. Look, he knew two versions of Thor. And two Steve Rogers.

Eliot smirked. "Technology useful enough but too full of itself for its own good."

Tony gave an exaggerated wince, hand on his chest. "Ouch."

"Ever seen a hacker go up against analog technology?" Eliot asked. "It can be real funny."

Especially after you'd finished having to escape an FBI building with a box full of cassette tapes instead of a thumb drive in your pocket.

Meanwhile, Tony was the reason SHIELD--pardon--HAMMER had to go back to paper files.

"They learn fast?" Tony suggested.

Eliot glanced over at the teddy bear again. Who knew what Hardison could or couldn't hear in there? "Some of 'em do, I'll give you that," he said. "Some of 'em are just idiot douchebags who have to be threatened into doing anything useful, though."

Chaos, for instance.
