Around the streets of Fandom, Thursday morning

Bob	Bob liked to wander around the island and just enjoy the relative freedom; that was never going to get old. Of course, when most everybody on the island had suddenly sprouted hooves and turned bright colours, it was even more fun to watch. Honestly, this island. It must really miss Pinkie Pie.
Discord	Why shouldn't it miss Pinkie Pie? Pinkie Pie was delightful. She had such a chaotic spirit. As Bob wandered, he developed an oddly shaped shadow. A shadow that seemed to be cobbled together out of bits and pieces of random animals. A shadow with glowy yellow and red eyes. "Well now," said the shadow. "You look rather pleased."
Bob	"Do I?" Bob asked. "Well, why shouldn't I?" He eyed the...whatever it was. "Who are you?" Did he know you when you weren't being...whatever you currently were?
Discord	"Merely a humble servant of chaos," Discord said, walking his way up out of the shadow on the ground until he was standing, bowing, next to Bob. "Friend of Fandom, champion of the absurd. It's nice to see you admiring some of my handiwork."
Bob	Bob raised an eyebrow. "Yours? I had thought it was the island's." He paid a bit more attention now, knowing otherwise.
Discord	"The island certainly has good instincts," Discord said. "But she has a little bit of trouble with scale, I think. It's a shame you haven't gotten a chance to participate, yet. You didn't want to be a pony?" Because, you know, that was definitely a choice he was offering.
Bob	"I wasn't aware we were choosing," Bob said, "but no, thank you. Why is everybody ponies?"
Discord	"Why shouldn't they be ponies? They spend so much of their time wandering around as -- whatever it is you pale, boring creatures are. Being a pony or a griffon or a dragon is much more fun." He clasped his hands behind his back. "I'm surprised by your decision, Hrothbert. May I call you Hrothbert? It's a lovely name. Really rolls off the tongue." Discord's tongue rolled out, releasing a little yellow ball that landed on the ground, shouted "HROTHBERT!" and ran off. "Anyway, I'm surprised. Little known fact about ponies: they almost never have issues interacting physically with their environments."
Bob	Bob narrowed his eyes. "You're remarkably well informed. You know, you never did tell me what your name was."
Discord	"Oh gosh, did I forget to mention? I am Discord. Lord of Chaos and master of whichever domain I happen to have entered."

"Mm-hm." Bob was unimpressed. "Are you now indeed. And who decided to make you the master of it?"

He had a feeling he knew that answer.

"Well now, that is an interesting question," Discord said. "Very existential. Back home most folks credit the order of the natural world to the pony princesses, though as their contemporary that doesn't really work well in my case, does it? I suppose you'd really just have to say it was the universe. I was born this way, you see." For an instant, he was styled just like someone out of a Lady Gaga video, or at least the pony world equivalent (http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/a/a5/Countess_Coloratura_arrives_S5E24.png/revision/latest?cb=20151123144350). "Destined to greatness."

The style was utterly lost on Bob, since Harry didn't tend to watch Gaga.

"So you decided it yourself, then." He'd figured. "Well, this island's got quite enough chaos without you adding your own bits in, so either enjoy what we've already got, or get lost."

"Oh, well, so long as I'm being ordered to do it. . . ." Discord said, with a fairly dramatic eye roll. "You know, I could really help you."

"Out of the goodness of your heart, I'm sure," Bob said. "That wasn't an order, it was advice. This island tends to have ways of dealing with things that play havoc with it."

"Why not? Just because I'm chaotic doesn't mean I can't be nice." He wasn't, but it wasn't the chaotic bit that made him that way. "You're not the first to mention that. You all seem to have tremendous confidence in your island."

"And we're better acquainted with it than you are, so you might want to take that at face value," Bob suggested.

"In my experience, even nice chaotic beings tend to cause more harm than good. I like my order, thank you."

"Ah well, your loss!" Discord summoned a pear. It had googly eyes and a mouth. He took a delicate bite out of it, causing the pear to grumble miserably. "Your island has never seen the likes of me before, Hrothbert. Though I think I'll quite like watching it try."

Bob shrugged. "Suit yourself, if you really think that." He wasn't going to bother trying to dissuade him any further. Being like him rarely cared to listen to anything as boring as reason.
