Community Center Class: International Cuisine, Monday evening
Hannibal greeted everyone at the portal as they gathered, then nodded to them all.
"Welcome back. To class and to two legs." Hannibal, for one, was glad of that second part. "Today we'll be visiting," somewhere normal and non-magical "Marrakech, Morocco. Morocco has been a hub of trade for centuries, and its spices and cuisine reflect that. Mediterranean and Arabic cuisines are the strongest influences, and olive oil, fruits, grains, and a number of meats, including lamb, are common."
He waved them through into the street. "We'll be dining today at Dar Cherifa, a lovely and calm oasis in the midst of the souks - the markets. It features a fairly traditional and varied menu, and I'll be ordering a number of things for you all to taste, as well as anything you may prefer to order on your own."
The street he led them into was bustling, surrounded by stalls, and very hot and dry. "The predominant languages here are Arabic and Berber, but most people will also speak French, and some will know Spanish or English," he said, raising his voice a little to be heard. "If you venture back out once we're in the restaurant, please give yourself extra time to return before our portal, as the streets are a veritable maze."
As witness the runner that led them the last few blocks to the restaurant. Hannibal tipped the man and thanked him before leading them into the restaurant and out of the heat. "If you have any questions, please feel free to ask."

She might need to be updated on views on colonialism and orientalism. The food should match the place, shouldn't it?Re: Stop, look, and listen...

And she was no longer a dragon, but that was something she was happy to forget.
"Have you been here before?"

"I have never had the opportunity before," Lucille said. "This is quite new for me."

Re: Stop, look, and listen...
It was familiar, and utterly alien to him. A welcome distraction from... everything, really.
Eat!
Re: Eat!
Besides, as charming as the marketplace was, he wasn't in any hurry to go back out there, either. Not with so many things still rubbed raw that he hadn't had a chance to deal with before being turned into a cat.
There was a sort of a meatball dish with eggs on it. He was tearing into that with a gusto, contemplating whether to try the rabbit or the leg of lamb next.
Re: Eat!
He was enjoying tasting several of the meat dishes himself.
Re: Eat!
You know, the Force sensitive type.
"And then strip away most mental processes that make a creature sentient, and get handed a box to poodoo in. Not an experience I'd repeat if I had the choice."
Re: Eat!
He shrugged. "In any event, welcome back."
Re: Eat!
At this point, the only reason he was still around was because he really had nowhere else to go. But then again, they were on another one of those planets with those Krogan guys, and that reality was admittedly pretty tempting.
Re: Eat!
Re: Eat!
And a good many to try not to think about ever again.

"Ah, I see." Hannibal nodded. "If you were scared, I can see that it might not be the best of experiences. My times as an animal, I have been very well cared for, and not at all frightened."
Then again, he was large and venomous.
Re: Eat!
"Loth-cats aren't easily frightened," Kanan noted, "so long as they know what to expect. But there were a lot of strange things going on last week, and smells that made no sense to a tooka's nose. It wore on from confusing to distressing pretty fast, at times."
Re: Eat!
"I can only imagine." Hannibal smiled. "But now you're back to being yourself once more, and little worse for the wear, as is generally the case with the island's oddities."
Re: Eat!
Kanan had a few complaints about a certain F-word, but he wasn't going to bring that up over dinner in public, so he just shrugged his shoulders instead.
"I can get back to dealing with the memory loss that I'd been in the process of coping with before I was interrupted."
Re: Eat!
And Jono had his own issues with the memory loss, but Hannibal wasn't going to discuss those, either.
"I do have office hours, you know. Or a well-stocked cabinet, if you prefer casual conversations." He'd just put that out there. No reason.
Re: Eat!
Maybe he could beat it, this time!
Re: Eat!
Re: Eat!
He didn't have much experience with it, mind.
Re: Eat!
Re: Eat!
There was a reason he was so bad at it.
Re: Eat!
Re: Eat!
He frowned, shrugged, and then made a reach for the rabbit. It was there. Why not.
Re: Eat!
Re: Eat!
While also contemplating a rematch between himself and the ryncol.
Talk to Hannibal!
He might settle for goat.
OOC!
