Luke's, Sunday
It would be unfair to say that Kanan was in a mood today. He wasn't in a mood, damn it. He was just... wary. Not that he expected Darth Vader to pop out at any moment or anything. He was pretty sure the Emperor's protege had better things to do than lurk around this place, waiting for potential Jedi to come back from vacation. Not that he didn't think Vader wasn't going to send somebody to do just that if he had suspected Jedi activity on the island, either...
Basically, he'd seriously considered just not coming in to work today. Or ever again. Once they'd returned to the island, he'd actually gone to Portalocity again to try to shake them down for a portal home. Didn't even have to be a big one. He could leave the ship here, vanish from Gorse entirely once he was in the right damn galaxy, and pretend that the Expedient had been jostled somewhere between Gorse and Cynda and there just hadn't been anybody around at the time to watch as the load of baradium went boom. Easy.
Today's Specials:
Cider-Brined Pork Roast with Potatoes and Onions
Butternut Squash Soup with Ginger
Roasted Acorn and Delicata Squash Salad
The busboy set a cup of caf down in front of Kanan and he nearly jumped out of his own skin. Beyond that, the staff actually let him be. They'd been there when Vader had come in, too, and even they could see that there had been some issues, there.

Talk to Kanan!
Re: Talk to Kanan!
So. Diner food. Possibly takeaway, but she hadn't decided yet. For now, she was just making her way in. "Anything good in the specials today?"
Re: Talk to Kanan!
Preferable to Vader's by far, anyway. He gave Sarah a little smile, nodded his head a bit in greeting.
"Depends how much you like squash, I suppose," he shared, going for casual and managing at least a 'probably not too antsy today, really.' "The soup isn't bad, or there's pork roast if you're looking for something a little more filling."
Re: Talk to Kanan!
"Not a fan of pigs so I dunno if the pork roast's for me," she mused as she came up to the counter. And actually took a look at the specials list for herself. "The fuck's a 'delicata squash'?"
Re: Talk to Kanan!
"You ask me that as though it's my job to know or something," he said, smiling wryly. "It's definitely a gourd of some kind. I managed to gather that much while the staff was preparing the salad. Doesn't taste half bad, either. Like..."
He frowned a little.
"Actually, most of my comparisons aren't from this galaxy, so that doesn't help any, does it?"
Re: Talk to Kanan!
Eating healthy wasn't really her thing in the slightest, but then again, she knew London would be several days of nothing but junk. And also beer.
"But there better be a dessert with chocolate or cream to go with it."
Re: Talk to Kanan!
Also for the company. But, you know, solidarity was important, here.
Re: Talk to Kanan!
Sure, they'd been around each other a fair bit over the last week, and she was more on the anti-social side of things as a person in general, but she was also about to go away for a bit. Also, he was nice. Which was... refreshing, really.
"But if the squash is rubbish I'm putting it all on your plate."

Re: Talk to Kanan!
He really didn't know the first thing about London, beyond that Sarah was from there, but he really couldn't help but be curious, either. Or maybe it was nosy. One of those.
Re: Talk to Kanan!
Look at how excited Sarah was to go help out! Just look at it.
(She wasn't. She was going to bitch her way through it.)
Re: Talk to Kanan!
"Ah," he said, attempting to hide that smile by putting a hand over his mouth. You know. Casually. "So she's got you going to another continent for the sake of a shopping trip, huh?"
Sure, portals made that easy, but still.
Re: Talk to Kanan!
"More or less, yeah," she said, about equally dry. "I wouldn't go, but then I'd nver hear the end of her moaning about it."
Re: Talk to Kanan!
"Ah," he replied, giving a knowing sort of nod. He... really had no experience in that area. There had been a girl on one planet who had decided after about a week that she'd wanted to marry him, once? He... left that planet. Fast. "So the best approach here is to just go along with it and then you're free until the next time, huh?"
Re: Talk to Kanan!
And, y'know. See her friends, Jen included. But she didn't really like talking about that kind of thing, because she didn't really like admitting to having those kinds of feelings.
Functional adult, here.
"All my old favourite drinks I could possibly want. So that's something."

Re: Talk to Kanan!
Yeah, because you already stole from the bar (even if it was just from the cigarette machines), Sarah. Not exactly trustworthy.
"But I guess we're even since I can still go to mine."
Re: Talk to Kanan!
In the way that a cantina patronized mainly by pilots and miners generally was.
Re: Talk to Kanan!
Re: Talk to Kanan!
Give it time and eventually he might snap and pick up a gnome and start shaking the little bastard.
"I guess we'll have to see."
Re: Talk to Kanan!
Come to Fandom and expand your horizons! That should've been in the broschure.
Re: Talk to Kanan!
"Makes sense, I suppose," Kanan allowed. "People from Earth haven't gotten much farther than your own moon, have you?"
It was... well... 'quaint' was one word that came to mind. Kanan at least had the good sense not to say that part aloud.
