Luke's, Monday

The kitchen staff were all dressed up in funky yellow goggles and ugly utility coveralls, today, resulting in them sulking in opposite corners of the room, glaring at each other.

"They can't agree on who has to change," one of the servers told Eliot. Eliot sighed and adjusted his cowboy hat.

"Yeah. I figured that out."

Thoroughly stuffed pumpkin
Sugar pumpkin, feta, and cilantro quesadillas
Fresh sugar pumpkin pie

Luke's was open and flying OCD free.

"Why are there minions?" Parker asked, side-eyeing the staff for all she was worth. It was like some deeper revealed truth had just appeared in the diner. "I want a cowboy hat too."

"How have I not gotten you a cowboy hat yet?" Eliot asked. "I think they're supposed to be some sort of . . . paranormal investigators."

The kitchen staff had moved on to fighting over who got to dance with the creme brulee torch.

"Really stupid ones, I guess."

"Like those guys on that website?" Parker snickered as she watched the kitchen crew coming very close to staff brulee'. "I need a hat. But not a horse." She'd gotten better with horses, but not that much better. "Maybe a sheriff's star."

"Bein' a sheriff was overrated." Eliot had had plenty of "sheriff" time in the matrix the summer before last, thanks. "You'd rather be an outlaw anyway."

"Truuue." Parker grinned, elbowing him. "There need to be more famous woman outlaws. Are there any Wild West outlaw women I could be?"

"Belle Starr," Eliot said immediately. "How d'ya feel about ostrich feathers?"

"Oooooo!" Parker visibly perked up, and then said, "Like that one squeaky rock star with the duck feathers, or even more? Please say more."

"Just the one," Eliot said. "In her hat. She was a crack shot, too. Ended up way more famous than her outlaw husbands."

"She had more than one? We *do* have a lot in common," Parker marveled. "Not that we're married or anything, but still." Except for the gun thing. But Parker did love her taser, so maybe that counted. "Are you one of her husbands?"

"Not at the same time I don't think," Eliot said, shrugging. "And nah, I'm not dressed as anyone in particular. Just dragged out the old cowboy hat so the staff wouldn't hassle me for not dressin' up."

Something was on fire now. "They have absolutely zero room to talk." Parker shook her head at the staff in condemnation. "I could take along more than one outfit, right? So I can change if I get bored of being one person?"

"I sure as hell won't complain," Eliot said. ". . . Should probably make sure you duck into a bathroom or somethin' to do the changing, though."

Parker wasn't always good at knowing what was appropriate to do in public.

"Oh. Okay. If you think people would mind." Another thing she would never get, really. "We should get Hardison to be another outlaw too."

"We can give it a shot," Eliot said. "Though he's been pretty occupied with his latest computer thing lately."

Eliot had no idea what said computer thing was. He just knew Hardison was deeply into it.
