Ada had considered skipping work, but hiding in her room wasn't going to help anything. So she was here, hoodie pulled down over her hands again, as she changed out the display to nice, warm looking coats and hats and things.

Milady was going to be roundly ignored, until Ada couldn't deal with needing to step around the bowl every time she wanted to adjust a mannequin or get in the window.

"Look, it's not personal," she said as she stuck the fishbowl under the counter. "--No, it is personal. I was here first, an' mine are prettier."

You cope in your way, Ada was doing her best to cope in hers.

Demon Marcus was open, and the mermaid is in.

[OOC: OCD-free, SP as I didn't sleep last night after BAT ADVENTURE and I'm currently waiting for someone to come help me seal up the kitchen ceiling so another one doesn't get down in through the walls.]

Ringo had a vague inkling that Thursday was Ada's usual day at Demon Marcus, but Thursday was also a no classes day for her, and she needed to put some thought into a winter wardrobe, anyway. So Ringo was looking around with a grin as she pushed her way through the door.

"Hellooooo," she caroled happily.

"H'llo, Ringo," Ada said, discreetly tugging her sleeves all the way down past her wrists. "What can I do for you today?"

Ringo, being Ringo, didn't really notice the sleeves. Or, rather, she noticed, but didn't think anything of it. "Ada!" She beamed. "Perfect. I think I need to make sure I'm ready for when the weather turns really cold, and I figured now was a good time to start!"

"Sweaters or sweatshirts, whichever suits your fancy," Ada said immediately. "Coat, hat, gloves, scarf. If'n you're like me an' hate snow... couple pairs of nice ski pants, not th' kind little kids wear."

"Mostly I want to make sure that whatever I end up with, it doesn't get in the way of AirTrek, you know?"

She pursed her lips. "So scarves are totally good, and hats as long as they won't fly off. Um, beyond that, I don't know? Layers are probably good?"

"You ever heard of Cuddl Duds?" Ada asked, heading towards a rack in the lingerie area. "Your AirTrek needs you t' be sleek, right? These'll fit under your regular pants if'n you want."

"Cuddl Duds?" Ringo repeated, following Ada curiously. "Don't think we have those back home."

"'S a kind of like if yoga clothes an' long underwear had a baby that wasn't totally ugly," Ada said bluntly, holding one up for Ringo. "Warm, not-bulky, and built to layer stuff."

"Ooooh." Ringo reached out to lightly brush her fingers across the fabric. "That sounds pretty awesome. And probably means I can keep wearing some of my cute Fall stuff for longer, right?"

"Definitely. They're soft an' lightweight--" which is why Ada liked them, they were easy on her scales, "--but th' sizin' can be a bit strange so you'll want t' try 'em on."

Ringo nodded. "Makes sense." She pulled a couple of different sizes off the rack, holding them up to see if they were in the right ballpark before draping them over her arm to try on later.

"This'll help a ton." Ringo pouted playfully. "Though I don't know if these are going to help me look extra cute or anything."

"No, but they'll keep you warm with cute outerwear," Ada pointed out. "They make good leggings if'n you want to wear a skirt, or slip 'em under cute pants. A short-sleeve summer top you love could go over one of th' long-sleeve ones."

"An' we'll find you a coat, too." She started heading over to outerwear. "Hat that'll stay on with AirTrek...that'll be harder."

"Leggings, right." Ringo made a mental note to grab some of those, too. "I usually do something snug and knitted for hats, but while I've got some in cute colors, it'd be nice to change things up a bit."

"You do a lot of AirTrek in th' evening an' afternoon, right?" Ada said, trying to remember when she'd seen Ringo coming or going from the dorms.

She picked up a knit hat and waved it at Ringo. "For th' fashionable night owl."

Ringo giggled. "Ooooh, cute!"

She shrugged. "Whenever I can, but since I'm usually out of class by early afternoon, I'll usually start doing serious AT stuff after that." So, yeah, evening and afternoon. And morning. And night.

Teeth flashed at Ada in a grin. "What about you?" she asked, hefting the clothes she'd picked up so far to try. "You get any awesome new stuff for winter?"

"Not yet," Ada said, tossing a set of basic knit gloves with the little grippy-dots on the counter for Ringo. "Dante gave me th' prettiest coat for m' birthday, an' I want t' wear it for as long as I can b'fore I freeze."

"Yeah. It's hard to give up a cute outfit, isn't it?" Ringo grinned. "Though I bet you could get him to give you a new, warmer one, too." Dante was a giant softy, after all.

"Though maybe the weather'll stay warm for a bit longer. If we're lucky."

Ada gave Ringo a puzzled look. "Why would I? I got last year's coat, ain't like they vanish at th' end of the season."

As much as Ada enjoyed creating her own fashion, she was far too frugal to even consider changing out her wardrobe every season. She was probably going to wear that coat for years, until it fell apart.

"As long as you don't do what I did last winter and just keep hoping it'll warm up the next week instead of shopping." Ringo hadn't been properly prepared for the truly cold days last year, which was a big part of why she was doing a bout of shopping now.

Which wasn't really a worry for Ringo. She'd always considered Ada to be quite a bit more practical than herself.
