Demon Marcus, Monday

It had been a very strange week, all things considered.

Not bad strange, not for her, but there were a lot of things to think about and she didn't really want to think about a lot of them too hard.

(She wondered what had happened to Kathy and the nice man and her other papas. Were they all alright?)

Alluka wandered in to work at the right time and looked around thoughtfully. She hadn't been by here last week but she didn't think it had been the same then. In fact, it wasn't the same already since… since Milady wasn't around.

She did have the presence of mind to see if there was broken glass anywhere but, no, there was no sign of Milady's tank. After a while, Alluka decided that, obviously, Milady had gone on a fishy adventure.

This sent her off to find an appropriate dress (which she paired with hot pink leggings and black ballet flats). Then she got to work, straightening up everything that was out of place.

Demon Marcus is Open!

Not having classes on Mondays was nice. It was especially nice after a weekend as weird as the one they'd just had. It gave Ringo plenty of time to herself, to just ride and get her thoughts in order. But even after that, she still had time to check in on people.

Which had led her, sometime in the late afternoon, to Demon Marcus. "Hello?" she called as she pushed the door open and glided in on her ATs. "Alluka, you working today?"

"Hey, there you are!" Ringo grinned. "How's it going?"

Usually Ringo brought food on these little visits, but today she came empty-handed. She really needed to step up her visiting game.

Actually, in Ringo's book, that was pretty high up on the list of priorities?

"Oh yeah?" She was beaming. "What'd you do?"

"Hey, that's awesome!" Ringo was actually clapping her hands excitedly. "You'll have to show me!" Because Alluka was getting pretty good, and watching the other girl always made Ringo feel happy.

"And you know I almost never say no to tea or cookies."

"Awesome!"

Ringo hopped up to sit on the counter with a grin. "And I'm totally free after this, so we should definitely get out there so you can show me!"

Then she fell silent, looking a bit contemplative. "Yeah," she managed eventually. "I guess I haven't really been all that great about teaching you how to do maintenance stuff, huh?" She glanced over. "I haven't even told you about Tuning, have I?"

"I guess I've been neglecting your AT education a bit, then," Ringo allowed with a little grin, watching the tea preparations.

"Though, to be fair, Tuning is a lot less important when you first get started with AirTrek. But it sounds like you're starting to get good enough that we should definitely do it."

Ringo took a sip of tea while she thought about your answer.

"Hmm. Have you ever been out for a ride and leaned forward to accelerate, and you end up going faster than you'd wanted to? Or not as fast? Where you have to readjust?"

Ringo grinned. "It definitely is part of learning. Especially at the beginning. I mean, no one gets everything right every time. But once you've started to practice, you'll start to find that everyone's body moves a little bit differently. Different center of balance, different flexibility, that sort of thing. Tuning is about adjusting your ATs so that they're more in sync with your body. So that when you move, they respond the way your body naturally feels like they should."

"That's a pretty good way of looking at it," Ringo agreed with a beaming smile.

"So for you to do that, you have to really understand your body. You basically use some special equipment to sort of read the, I guess you can think of it as "rhythm", of your body. The way it moves and stuff like that, and you use that information to adjust your ATs."

"It's actually best if you have someone else help you since it's actually really hard to do from inside your own body. Like, it's hard to see how your body works because you're so used to it, you know?"

"I think," Ringo said after a moment, "that maybe it's more like someone telling you if you lean a little forward or a little backward or just stand straight when you're just standing around. Every person is a little different, and because you're so used to it, you don't think about that kind of stuff."
