Eliot was actually picking up the whole knitting thing remarkably quickly. He was no Parker, but he was reasonably good at fiddly things with his hands -- he just typically went with brute force on problems for the sake of time. There was no way to brute-force a knitted scarf or hat, though.
He'd tried.
"What're you making?" the busboy asked. Eliot looked down at the five feet of knitting trailing out across the table in front of him.
"A scarf."
"Nice," said the busboy. "Why are there holes in it?"
"Shut up and get back to work."
