Luke's Diner, Thursday
This morning's oddly festive mood had infected Luke's as well. The staff were all wearing party hats and blowing into party horns. There were streamers festooning the ceiling, bunting on the walls, and balloons tucked into corners.
"Yo, what's goin' on here?" Hardison asked, drawn in from the street by all the decorations.
"Supposed to be some kind of party later," the busboy said. "We're just getting ready."
"...An' you're already serving the cake?"
"There's a lot of it," the busboy added. "So, you want a piece?"
