JGoB, Sunday Afternoon
So yesterday had been fun. Verity had discovered the one thing worse than waking up as a guy: waking up as a guy and having to explain this sudden crisis of faith to her mice, half of whom continued to call her 'priestess' and the other half of whom started calling her a god. And of that faction, they'd been divided whether to continue to call her the Arboreal God or whether she needed a new designation entirely. At this point, the best Verity could hope for is the schism not being permanent (as well as the situation not being permanent). Because there was no way she was explaining this to her mother.
Today, the high-pitched arguments had driven her out of the apartment. She'd had enough oversized clothing that she didn't look too ridiculous running around as a guy, though her flipflops were never going to to be the same. Booze sounded like an absolutely great idea right now, which was why she was sticking to chocolate and sugary baked goods instead. See? She had some self-control.
Not that you'd be able to tell by the number of eclairs she'd ordered.

"You're going to want some more chocolate if you're trying to cope with all this," Verity called. "So far, it's the only thing I've found that helps."

Still this kid--possibly the first student Verity had spoken to on the island--looked really down and that made Verity feel for...her? Probably her, considering. "I heard that the island is sentient and has a sense of humor?" she offered. "If it helps, the staff seem to think it's mostly annoying and not, like, permanent."
