The Park, Saturday Afternoon

Lucille hadn't particularly enjoyed Prom and she had left early, and woken up early. She had been wandering around the island deciding it was at least a better way to spend her time than going to dances, and was now on her way back.

She missed Thomas. Despite the friends she had made here, she felt that increasingly, and that weakness bothered her. In time they would be together, but that time wasn't now.

Lost in these thoughts, Lucille paid little attention to her surroundings.

[Lucille is obviously going to encounter someone, but the park is open.]

"Aunt Lucille!"

A girl came running towards her, looking frightened.

Lucille almost jumped. She wasn't used to children looking to her for comfort, and she was quite sure she wasn't an aunt.

Then she recalled that time when she had spent a weekend looking after two girls who claimed she was her mother.

Perhaps being an aunt was better. And the girl didn't have a beard.

"Yes, dear?" She said, regaining her composure.
