There was actual foot traffic in the shop for once! People were coming in and buying red, white, and blue flowers like crazy. Bouquets, wreaths... someone asked if she could put some into a flag shape! Another wanted a giant gold star made of flowers, and hadn't been too happy that she was going to have to come back in the evening for it.

And someone came in and asked for poppies. A hundred red poppies and a hundred white, preferably common field variety. Shiemi made a note to look up the western meaning of poppies, since the somber old gentleman with the crazy mustache and really sad eyes did not seem to be interested in expressing 'fun loving' and 'joy'.
