The Park, Saturday Morning

Magnus had been longing for his usual Starbucks, but somehow the fact that it was inexplicably raining sharks (h-hallelujah?) made up for the withdrawal. It also meant he got to sort through his inventory of weapons and wander on out to investigate this straight up Gaia Sash level weirdness.

"Something's really fishy about this," he announced, hoping he was the first one to use it. He'd be wrong but bless his heart, he did try.

A small mako shark whipped past, clearly judging his sub-optimal pun usage.

Peter had no actual reason for coming out in this weather, no. Except that he was worried other, lower-constitution less hardy people might get caught in it, and he was very bad at staying out of danger if it meant people might get hurt.

It was going to just be a quick once around the island to make sure everyone was inside. Then he got hit with a shark, and went back inside for his sword.

Now, when he saw another shark heading for the guy who was inexplicably not trying to go inside, he reached out with his magic glowing purple, grabbed it, and flung it away before rushing over.

"What are you doing out here?"

Unnecessary, but okay. He was perfectly capable of fighting flying sharks like the completely normal human man he was. In fact, he was planning to tell his shield that too.

"Uhh... goin' for a walk. You know how it is when you've been cooped up inside for too long."

Taako strolled up to Magnus, umbrastaff by his side though he wasn't actually using it as an umbrella (which Lup probably appreciated). However, it did look like he was holding something cylindrical in his hand. Sort of like when someone made an invisible 'jerk off' motion.

Aw yeah, someone had found the invisible umbrella.

"What the fuck is happening right now?"

Let's be honest here, he got lucky in finding that thing. He got real lucky.

"Uh, looks like it might be a whale of a situation." Magnus, no.

"No." Just no.

"You're just mad you didn't think of it first," Magnus grumbled, getting out his shield and the best darn sword ever.

What must've been a baby shark flew towards Taako and bounced off the invisible umbrella.

"One of those sharks flew through the window of the store."

Octavia was wearing warpaint in dark shapes around her eyes. The tough leathers were also present, but then they always were – not so much for the blade in her hand, though. She was carrying it like a sword but it looked like maybe at one point in its life span, it had been a machete.

She was outside because she couldn't not be. Hiding away hadn't been in her blood since she'd been found out on the Ark. So she was out, seeing whether there were people who needed help getting to safety. The cold ease with which she was slicing at every shark that came too close suggested she wasn't going to end up needing help, herself.

But, she hadn't found anyone yet.

Magnus didn't count. "Does this seem normal to you?"

It was adorable. Also, bitch should have known better to try that when a protection fighter was this close to Taako. Disadvantage, motherfucker!

"I can fix that for you later, no worries."

[magnusrushesin]

This was true. Magnus was awesome like that.

"Nope! But I'm not from around here, so maybe it is?"

"Thanks, my dude," Taako said, making a face at the dead shark. "Gross."

Cara was in a mood. True, Surreal had spent the week with her, but since Cara had spent nearly the entire time as a chipmunk, that had put quite the damper on things, and now it was raining, and there were flying sharks.

The sharks made up for things a bit. It meant she got to stab something.

"It's annoying," Peter agreed. "But maybe during a hurricane with sharks falling from the sky isn't the right time for a walk?"

He put up a green shield between the two of them and the sky, and shunted aside another shark before it fell on the tree a bunch of ducks were huddled under.

Cara finally being human-shaped again made up for things a bit, and watching her take her frustrations out on these large fish-creatures was delightful as far as Surreal was concerned.

The rain, she wasn't as much a fan of, but Surreal wasn't going to expend any Craft to stay dry until she had a better read on the situation. Instead she was using blasts of power to basically toss sharks at Cara for her to stab, or shove them away if they got too underfoot. She didn't want to drain herself too fast, just in case things got ugly.

Jalian had been on her way to Stark's when she'd had to dodge a shark. And then another.

Now she was scowling and had her knives out and was heading to where she could see some other people fighting against them. She didn't even really stop to think about it - she was a Huntress, her job was to protect.

"Where are these coming from?" she shouted over the storm.

"Octavia." Jalian nodded at the other girl and slashed a shark with her knives when it got in range. "Do we know how to stop these?"

"My brother said it is and it isn't."

Which Octavia hadn't found very helpful, even if it did seem to be in line with her fledgling understanding of how the island seemed to work.

"Stabbing seems to be doing the trick," Octavia replied, as dryly as she could when she had to raise her voice over the sound of the storm.

There was a satisfying amount of shark gunk on the blade of her sword. "On a bigger scale, I don't know."

Cara was maybe a tiny fan of the rain (or at least Surreal not keeping dry in it), because, again, being a chipmunk meant she hadn't been able to properly appreciate Surreal getting all dressed up the other day. Not that she was stupid enough to mention that right now.

She slammed her agiels against the latest hapless shark tossed her way. Teamwork!

"Not the ducks!" Look, Magnus loved every animal.

"Think we should do something?" Magnus asked, lifting his shield to block another one.

[magnusrushesin]

"Oh. Huh." He squinted as a shark divebombed the ground next to him as he continued to impose disadvantage on attacks by being there with his shield.

"THAT WAS SO COOL!"

Magnus was a supportive friend, Cara. And now Surreal.

"Magic?" Magnus suggested cheerfully.

Surreal just laughed. "I can tell you're looking," she teased, flicking her fingers to send two sharks crashing into each other as she pulled a blade from the sheathe at the small of her back.
