So the eye of Irma managed to swerve inland last night just enough to go around Tampa Bay. The last major, destructive hurricane to hit that area was in 1921 (and before that one, 1848).

Now, I'm not saying that the Tampa Bay area is under some sort of magical protection, but I do know at least one person from Tampa who is, and I am extremely relieved that my alma mater is only dealing with downed tree limbs and maybe some minimal water damage.

Hope everyone else's friends and family who were/are in Irma's path fare just as well!
