Caritas- Tuesday

This morning one job had made Kitty late for her second job, and now she was at her first job planning for the grand reopening along with lesson plans for her third job.

She was gonna be fine, guys, really.

Anyway, parts of the bar were still covered in cloths just so it looked new for the party this weekend, and if you wandered in you'd likely get asked for suggestions.

"Has the island been visited by a sheet fairy?" Tony asked, turning in a little circle to take it all in.

"Yes. Did you get it, too?"

She just wanted to know what he'd say.

Not at all be surprised. Because this island.

"Wow, I need to make more wild guesses."

[throughaphase]

"I'm kidding," Kitty smiled. "The sharkicane renovation's finally done but no one gets to see it till the party I obviously have to throw."

"Not even a peek?" He was crushed, Kitty. Utterly crushed.

[throughaphase]

"You can't wait till Friday? It's like Christmas, but with a bar," she said.

[imafuturist]

"Well, if my class has another glitter bomb in it, I'll need the bar then." So you better be telling the truth about the Christmas joy here.

[throughaphase]

"Your class had a glitter bomb? Do tell," Kitty said.

Though she was twitching a tiny bit at the thought of glitter in her new bar.

"It was on the DVD player," Tony said with a sigh. "I'm still finding it in the shower."

[throughaphase]

"Yeah, that's probably going to be your next three weeks," Kitty said sympathetically. "Like... how did... why was it on the DVD player?"

[imafuturist]

"Apparently it was a thing going on." And they weren't nearly suspicious enough. "Lucky me, right?"

[throughaphase]

Kitty looked warily around the bar. "You do realize you've just created a paranoid monster by telling me this, right?"

[imafuturist]

What? With their lives? Nothing like that would ever happen again.

"Well, maybe avoid DVD players?"

[throughaphase]

"I'm just not gonna trust anything," she decided. "Can I get you something?"

[imafuturist]

"I wouldn't turn down a beer," he replied. "If that's not being saved for the party, that is."

[throughaphase]

"Renovations are expensive, and so you can totally have a beer," Kitty said, already getting one. "So what's new with you, glitter aside?"

[imafuturist]

"The crushing reality of teaching civics in the political era we live in?" he replied. "That's... newish."

[throughaphase]

"Yeeeeah," she winced, sliding over his beer. "As the history teacher when that happened, I sympathize. Hopefully the kids help?"

"They're good kids," he agreed, lifting his drink in a little salute.

[throughaphase]

"I'm so glad Fandom kids are easy," Kitty admitted. "It's freakish, but it's nice that one job goes smoothly."

"What are you teaching this time around?"

[throughaphase]

"Computer science here, along with computer science and ethics back home," she answered.

[firstofitskind]

"The bar has a bar again," Liam noted as he entered. "Bold choice. I like it."

[throughaphase]

"I think I'm going to keep it. So much easier to actually make drinks here," Kitty smiled. "What can I get you?"

"The folding tables had a certain charm but I can see how they'd get old quick. I'll take a Guinness, if you've got it," Liam said, after thinking about it for a moment.

[throughaphase]

"I've definitely got it," she said, getting him one. "The place will look normal after this week. Just gotta get through the grand reopening."

Like the place had closed in all this time.

"Well," Liam said with a grin. "'Normal'." And there were airquotes, yes. He was totally getting in to the rhythm of this place!

[throughaphase]

"Hey, my place is very normal, aside from the zombies, and sanctuary spell, and Tino," Kitty pointed out.

[firstofitskind]

"Sanctuary spell?" Liam echoed, giving her a curious look. Because that one was new to him.

[throughaphase]

"It's impossible to cause another person harm in here. You hit someone, you get dumped out either into the alley, or the pond." Whichever was funnier. "It came with the place."

"That sounds amazing," he said. And kind of hilarious, yes. "God, I wish magic was a thing where I came from. The Flat Planet would've gotten a lot of use out of something like that."

[throughaphase]

"Wish I could tell you how I got it, or I'd share," she frowned.

[firstofitskind]

"Eh," Liam waved a hand. "Don't even know if it'd work, since every time something happened that people thought was magic, it turned out to be aliens. Plus, chances of me going back there are pretty slim, anyway."

[throughaphase]

"Oh, really? By choice, or...?" Kitty asked.

[firstofitskind]

"Little bit of both?" Liam shrugged. "I mean, legally speaking, I'm dead. So at the very least there would be questions." And considering he'd 'come back from the dead' once already back when he'd first assumed the real Liam's identity, twice probably wouldn't hold up. Of course, he was talking to someone for whom coming back from the dead was an almost routine occurrence when it came to the circles she moved in. Not that he knew that.

"Not with the right falsified documents."

It really should worry Kitty that she reacted like this to things.

Liam had to laugh because, well. All of his documents were already falsified documents. "And possibly plastic surgery. Companion Protectors were pretty high profile."
