Parent's Weekend Brunch, Sunday

Hopefully everyone's Parents Weekend had been going well, but if not... well, it was Sunday, and thus time for the last official Parents Weekend event: Brunch! If things had been going well, well, it was still almost over, but hopefully brunch would be a positive note to go out on.

The weather was sunny but not too hot, aka perfect brunch weather. The tables were well stocked with goodies for all sorts of beings. Yes, even those whose diets consisted of things that others might not consider "food". Fandom was nothing if not inclusive.

So far, Reno's face had gone blissfully unpunched. Which... wasn't a good sign so much as it was a warning that he was probably going to have to be more vigilant as the weekend drew to a close.

That said, nothing was stopping him from showing up at the brunch. Free food? He'd risk a good face punching for that. Shit, he kind of missed this sort of thing, yo.

Could it conceivably be called a brunch food? Yes? It's here, of course. Was there also a selection of items whose status as "food" was questionable to most of the population? Also yes. Everyone deserved a delicious brunch, even if it consisted of things like raw fish or air fresheners.

Kat and Dante'd caught up over the weekend; they'd now reached the point where they were companionably eating free food together.

"You could probably ship some of this stuff back home if you need to."

"We're not doing that badly. Anymore."

Sam was famished after the 10 mile run that Steve considered a fun way to spend the time before the sun came up (ugh. He was the worst), so he was here, carb loading and passive-aggressively smushing any bugs that came near his plate.

He wouldn't even be sorry if one of them was Hank. The psycho.

So you don't have to figure out how to eat that plate full of food while balancing a drink. Or so you can just sit down.

And there they were, the whole of the Smith family, having their first meal to include the four of them since the divorce. It was...exceptionally awkward. It had been Morty's idea, of course, and he was at least trying to make conversation here and there, but it was...awkward. Jerry making inane observances. Beth and Summer barely letting out one word answers.

At least there was the food to distract them.

Awkwardly.

God, Summer was glad this nightmare weekend was almost over...

I have to work at the Nickelback concert tonight. I dunwanna.
