Demon Marcus, Sunday
Sparkle still hadn't decided what it was he wanted to be for Halloween this year, which meant that at any given point in the day, customers might come in to see him wearing a different costume. Testing the waters. Seeing what it was that worked for him. He was alternating between that, and putting costumes out on the mannequins in the window, so that people would know that, as well as their usual selection of clothing, Demon Marcus had them covered if they wanted to do their costume shopping here.
But, just to be sure, he was also putting a few signs in the window.
Get Your Halloween Costumes Here!
Costumes for all Body Types, Budgets, and Senses of Modesty!
We've Got You Covered!
Okay, they didn't have all types of costumes. The blatantly racist crap couldn't get the burn barrel treatment anymore (he missed that burn barrel), but that wasn't stopping him from putting them back into the boxes they'd come in with a stern letter to his supplier telling them to do better next year or he'd have to start shopping around.
But not before he stole a few feathers from those headdresses in order to jazz up the Robin Hood and Peter Pan hats instead. That was okay by him.

So, she made her way into the store, a curious look on her face.

Probably. He didn't exactly know Captain America, and anyway, he was Canadian. But he was perking up a little as somebody stepped into the shop, a pair of glowing devil horns on his head because, really, not all costumes could be winners. They were still fun to wear.
"Hey, how can I hel-- Oh, I know you!"
It had been a few years, but they'd had classes together!

"Oh, hi!" she said, smiling. "So there are still familiar faces here."
And not just various Avengers who were familiar faces of an entirely different kind.

And so enthusiastic about it. Like, barely containing the urge to beam as she said that.
So, not at all like the last lady to hold her position.
no subject
And someone willing to do the paperwork, too.

Karolina smiled a little sheepishly. "Yeah, I'm trying, at least." Time would tell how well it worked. She pushed her hair back behind one ear, then said brightly, "But, today, I'm just a person looking for a Halloween costume!"

Definitely not Iron Man or Cap, though.
"I don't know if the drinking is really a draw for me, but it's a starting point, I think." Also she was weirdly drawn to Black Widow's catsuit. So. There was that.
no subject
"I, uh, only know a few of the Avengers," Sparkle admitted, smiling wryly. "But we can probably throw something together if you can find me pictures. You don't really strike me as an Iron Man."
He knew so many Tonys.

Hers was a special kind of hesitation. The kind that implied she wanted to, but maybe shouldn't?
Also, hey, maybe Sparkle didn't know who she was talking about. "Hold on." She got her phone and tapped around for a brief moment before holding it out so he could see a pic. A fan artist's rendering, of course - it maybe wasn't that easy to get Natasha Romanoff to pose for pictures. "So, her."
no subject
Sparkle leaned in to look at the picture thoughtfully. And then made a little, 'oooo,' and nodded.
"The catsuit will be easy," he shared. "And the cuffs... might take some rummaging, but I think that can be managed. The belt, though..."
He made so-so hands, and then tilted his head.
"If you give me like an hour, I can probably modify a belt we've got to look like that, though."
no subject
In.part because it was pretty damn far removed from her own style.
no subject
"Sure," Sparkle replied easily. "I mean, it'll be silver fabric, not actual metal. I can only do so much on this time frame, you know? But it's, like, circles."
He grinned.
"I can do circles."
And one red hourglass.
no subject
"Okay, then I would definitely like some circles," she said, nodding very solemnly. Too solemnly. She wasn't very good at solemn. "Thank you."
In the meantime, she could internally flail about the catsuit.
no subject
"Not a problem," Sparkle laughed. "And if you, like, need help picking the right catsuit, I can help with that, too. Mind if I cake a picture of this picture on your phone so I have something to refer to while I work?"
So high-tech. Why text him the address when phones had cameras, anyway?
no subject
But, no.
"Oh, sure!" she said, still holding the phone out. "And, yeah, I think I need some help with the suit, too. I haven't really worn... anything like that, before."
no subject
Sparkle held up his own phone, and... click! There, easy reference.
"It's fine," he said easily, and then reached for the measuring tape. "Do you need to be measured for that, or do you know your dimensions offhand already?"
Catsuits were tight. You didn't want something that didn't fit right, after all.
no subject
She considered the kind of clothes she usually shopped for. Then she considered the idea of catsuits.
"No." She shook her head. "Not in a way that'd be, like, reliable for something like that."
no subject
Sparkle gave a little nod, and then held the tape out to her.
"Do you mind? Or would you rather do it yourself?"
He understood not wanting to be touched, even for measurements. He was also about as interested in her as she was in him, and would be keeping this absolutely professional if she wanted the help.
no subject
Her flailing at trying to do something she didn't actually know how to do would be greater than her flailing over him touching her. Because the latter would be zero.
no subject
Sparkle laughed a little, not unkindly, and then nodded and reached forward to start taking her measurements.
"That's fine, then. This'll be over fast, anyway."
Like, seriously fast. He was taking evening classes in costume design for a reason.
