Luke's, Sunday
Kanan stepped into the diner and was immediately blasted with Christmas Carols.
...
"I feel like I should be admonishing you for this," he noted. "It's still November."
"But it's after Thanksgiving," the busboy pointed out.
"And you can't deny they're catchy," added the cook.
Kanan couldn't deny that.
But he was putting his foot down on starting an open fire in the lobby for roasting chestnuts.

Just... Peppermint!

"I take back everything I said about you being a good dad," she announced pointedly (with love) as she settled on her usual stool. "Cookies for breakfast? Seriously? Your children will all die of diabetes before they're twelve."

"Good thing I only ever get kids on the weird weekends, then, huh?" Kanan gave Summer a grin. "I would've shoved something green at you if you were little for any longer, I promise."

And she produced from her purse a little booklet tied together with a binding of pink yarn, only about ten pages long, and she set it on the counter and pushed it forward for him. On the front, he'd find a crayon drawing of a little redhead girl and some dude with a ponytail (that was...probably him?) and the oh-so-charmingly childishly scrawled title of "COOKIE COOKBOOK by SUMMER SMITH, age 6". Inside, he would find the many various cookie-inspired recipes that he had so easily encouraged last week. Not only cookie pancakes and cookie milkshakes, but maybe you might like to try cookie salad? Or spaghetti and cookie-balls? The double-bacon cookie-burger was sure to be a hit! All of them with helpful(ish) scribbles of all that delicious food.
Summer fully expected to see this shit hanging on BDG's refrigerator if she ever visited his apartment.

"Of course you realize I'm going to have to try a few of these recipes," he shared.

But really, he'd eat just about anything. So.

"... I think I'll be careful to pace myself," he shared. "She's already weird enough about hair as it is. The last thing I want is for her to end up associating it with vomit."
Anyway, his ponytail fastener did the 'holding his hair back' job well enough.
