Luke's, Sunday
"Nghhnnnghn." Kanan leaned forward and kind of mashed his face into the counter at Luke's. "Hngh."
He'd had a little too much to drink last night at Peter's, and then after three hours and fifteen minutes of Titanic hell, he'd sort of staggered back to his own apartment and had some more. Now he wasn't completely sure if he was hung over or still at least a little bit drunk, but whatever it was he didn't like it, and he didn't actually want to be here today.
"So," Cookie said, wandering out of the kitchen for a moment to set a card down in front of him, "I guess this is a bad time to give you this?"
Kanan looked balefully at the cook, and then reached for the card. Squinted at it. Blinked and then leaned in to squint closer. At first glance it looked like all the rest of the Christmas cards that were littering the streets today, but this one clearly featured a picture of an elderly Sullustan woman sitting in a garden, a light dusting of snow around her, next to a large, rather lovely tree. He opened it up and smiled a little at the note, from Zaluna, talking about how she loved her new home, the quiet life she'd been given, and hoped that wherever they had gone, Hera was still keeping him in line. It was addressed to the both of them.
"Nah," he said, after reading it over a few more times. "It's never a bad time for this."
Today's Specials:
Confit Duck Leg with Flageolet Ragoƻt and Celeriac Mash
Beef Cheek and Butternut Broth in Sourdough
Pancakes
It wasn't that long before he was grumbling into the countertop again, mind. Were there any more cards waiting for him in there?

Seriously, he had been smashed.

Summer debated for a moment whether or not to pat his poor head. She decided against it, figuring even the smallest tap would not exactly be welcome.
"Silly Bus Driver," she said. "You don't ever start with beer. 'Beer before liquor, never been sicker!' but 'Liquor before beer, you're in the clear!'"
As if she ever drank anything that wasn't jello shots, watery keg dredges, and fruity sugarbombs with a suggestion of alcohol in there somewhere. But, okay, sure, she was an expert now.
"Why aren't you drinking water? You should have some nice greasy eggs, too. I don't have any aspirin," she started digging through her purse, "but I do have some Midol. I'm not sure if that'll be any help, though..."

Or even aspirin, for that matter. People kept mentioning it, and he hadn't recognized it, but couldn't be bothered to ask.

"It's for lady troubles," she answered cheerfully, hoping that would be enough, because if he didn't already know about it, she definitely didn't want to be the one to explain Earthling human female reproductive processes to him. "I've never tried it for hangovers before, though, and I'm not sure if it's okay for guys to take. I mean, you'd think it'd be fine, but I did buy this one here, so the last thing we need is for you to take some and then, you know, be stuck as a girl until it wears off or somewhere in between or start having lady problems that they were supposed to fixing..."
She was totally inspecting the package now, because that would be a totally sweet method of dealing with people she didn't like if she ever wanted to be some sort of overlord or whatever.

"... But would I be stuck as a woman with a hangover?"
Look, it was that bad, Summer. He was tempted.

So she leaned in and flipped the package in her hand to hold it out to him. "Knock yourself out. How much worse could it get, right?"
Oh, but it could get a lot worse, since diuretics weren't exactly known for being the best for dehydration and what not. Good thing Summer had washed her hands of all responsibility thanks to the infallible Not-A-Doctor Clause.

"To hell with it."
He was taking two. He was going to regret it later, but he was absolutely taking two now.

"Seriously, though, drink more water."

People didn't get to this point without something to celebrate or something to forget, that much she knew. In this case, she really hoped it was a celebration, because, seriously, there was too much of the other one from the adults in her life as it was.
