Covent Garden Flowers, Thursday
When Octavia came in this morning, the blue plant she'd first discovered two weeks ago had frozen two flowers that had been closest to it, and was still emitting a faint freezing mist around itself. Octavia frowned at it. As skittish as the plant seemed to be (not that she thought a plant could really be called skittish), it hadn't been doing that last week. Unsure what else to do, she got out the thick gloves she'd brought in last week, and moved the plant over to where it wouldn't freeze any other flowers.
Also where she could keep an eye on it.
She didn't know what this reaction was about, but she was instantly wary.

Under the floor on the Ark had arguably smelled worse, somehow.

Much, much worse.
"At least here I can go outside if it's too much. But so far, it hasn't been." She shrugged again. "So guess I'm just tougher than you, big brother." That last bit was a joke. Not that you could necessarily tell by her tone.

It wasn't an accusation, honest - she was pretty sure they'd covered all that by now - but just her way of saying he couldn't really know that much about her toughness these days, could he?
Well, apart from that time with the sharks.

Because he did.
"What?"

Rejecting fear was kind of a family thing, after all.

She moved past the blue plant again, as she went to put away the cleaning tools. It puffed out another burst of freezing mist.

"You're way too old for that game, Bel."

Spoiler: she wasn't sorry!
"Anyway, I have a bad feeling about things."

Her bad feelings included.

Their mother would be proud right now. Super proud.

"Isn't 'doom and gloom the entirety of what you've been doing since you ended up here?"

With her arms folded, because how else were you supposed to say that?

For the couple of seconds before she turned her back on him. It was a short time, but the emotion was clear enough.
She had plants to work with in the oppsoite direction from him, anyway.
