"Stop looking at me like that, Apu!"
They'd spent the morning getting things set up and ready for the arrival of new students and the start of the new semester, and, between the two of them, they'd made a nice quick job of it. Or so Amaya thought. Everything seemed in order, so she went over to the counter to do the books for the week and maybe get started on some lesson plans because she was actually going to be a teacher and hadn't even begun to really settle in with a plan.
Yet Apu kept bringing out stock from the back and setting up displays and staring at her as he passed by with an accusing look on his face.
And she just met it with a shrug. "You really think all that's necessary? You still have all bloody day! You've been doing this for years before me, I'm sure you can handle it just fine now, especially when most of the work is already done."
But he just shook his head at her and she just shook her head back, sighed, and went back to focusing on her scribbles of ideas for her classes.
