Covent Garden Flowers, Thursday
Octavia had been delivered a bouquet of fake roses, where the actual flowers were apparently made of... pairs of underwear? She was supposed to take the bouquet apart and use the lingerie roses as part of an arrangement with real roses and some other usual things. 'Preferably with very similar tones', the customer had said.
Octavia was ready for Valentine's Day to be over.
But until then, she'd be here, handling some underwear in a flower shop.

"You've never been in here during one of my shifts," she said dryly, sticking another fake rose in the arrangement. "So that's not shocking."

For reasons that were... surprisingly complicated.
"Last year."

He was always scrunchin' for a punchin'. Also always hoping for a hugging. Which didn't rhyme as well, but there it was.

"Well, we already took care of the sharks, remember?" she said, not touching that whole 'friend' business. "One of them destroyed the old store and it had to move. So, punching done and taken care of."

"Awww, I coulda helped rebuild it. I did that with Taako's place."

With her lingerie roses.

What, like she had much to say to that?
She compared one of the real roses to one of the fabric ones - eh. The color'd do. Close enough.

Was that a request for elaboration?
Probably not.

HE SHOWED LOVE WITH WOODWORKING. And nearly dying with people.

Congrats, Magnus, your romance made even less sense than the obsession with flowers that seemed to be happening in this time and place.

No, when he said it like that, she got it. But it was an altogether softer emotion than what she was comfortable expressing, so, she wasn't going to.
She thought of Lincoln.
She stuck another rose in her arrangement. Probably should've said something else to change the subject, now, but she failed to do so.

"So, I guess this is a big holiday here?"

One of his friends was more likely to try fucking said flower, but...

It was partly a lie. Oh well.
"But it makes sure my shifts are busy. So there's that."

She shrugged. "If you say so."

Deal with it.
