Luke's, Sunday
Kanan stepped through the door into the kitchen of Luke's today to pass the cook an order.
Everyone in the kitchen just stared, and frowned. And continued to frown as he walked back out of the kitchen, making his way back to the counter, where he got comfortable again, pouring himself a coffee.
In the kitchen, Kanan could hear the muffled arguing of the staff, which ended with an exasperated, "Fine, I'LL do it," from the dishwasher, which led to the door opening, a wet sploosh, and the aggrieved yelp of the dishwasher as he was hit with the full slosh of the bucket of water that had been rigged to fall when somebody went through that door.
Welcome to Luke's!
Today's Specials:
Honey Chipotle Grilled Chicken
Meyer Lemon and Rosemary Brûlées
Pancakes
Kanan smirked and sipped at his coffee.

She would have asked yesterday, but she was trying to be good and focus on actually flying instead of, you know, gossip and what not.

Given all the emphasis that Summer had put on the radio on Thursday morning, it was possible that Kanan had more leads than he was letting on.
no subject
And, hey, suggesting it now was probably miles better than Summer's original impulse, which was to just put Hera's name on the card, but she was smart enough to know better than that. Some things were just not worth the fallout.
no subject
Call him crazy, but...
"Why, are you hoping it is?"

Even if Kanan, uh, wasn't technically his real name. It was as close as he'd given to anybody around here, Hera included. It would do.
"That you have," he agreed, smirking faintly as he reached for his coffee again. "It's a shame, I don't think Hera is the sort to use all-caps quite that way, either. Honestly, I don't think I know many who are."
no subject
But after a pause, she did think of someone. "I mean," she amended, "except maybe that shark guy. You think maybe shark guy has a crush on you?"
no subject
Based mostly just on the fact that Kanan's single run-in with him had mostly just involved being in the same cave during a fight they were on opposite sides of, granted.
"So, what were all those flowers about?"
Might as well just go for it and ask.
no subject
Just an explanation, really. Not an admission.
no subject
"Yeah, I got that part," he replied. "That doesn't help me answer the... maybe three dozen questions I have to go along with those three dozen roses, though."
no subject
Which she would have absolutely loved to have done. Her bank account, not so much.
no subject
Which he could have left that at, but he had to follow it up with what he hoped wasn't a completely baffled, "Why?"
no subject
"I just thought it would be funny."
And she was so, so right.
"But," she added, "please tell me you appreciated them at least a little bit. That was easily one of the most expensive for-shits-and-giggles things I've ever done."
Worth it, without a doubt, but her next party might have to feature ramen instead of pizza as a result.

"Hell, Summer," he replied, shaking his head and grinning, "it was great. You managed to completely upstage the flowers I got for Hera, but I'm not actually complaining about that."
Because it wasn't A Big Deal that he'd gotten her flowers if there were three dozen roses sitting on the counter, monopolizing the kitchen space, all made out to him.

He shrugged his shoulders.
"It doesn't give the wrong impression, I guess."
... Whatever that was.
