The Park, Friday Afternoon
Once again, Kanan was in the park, doing his lightsaber forms.
Once again, Kanan had the dog along with him.
Unlike usual, the ducks had finally decided they'd had enough of Stance's shenanigans. The dog had trotted over to the shoreline to find his friends, and had found nothing at all. He'd sniffed around a bit, and then huffed and turned to make his way back to Kanan instead, only to find himself flanked from behind by several angry ducks and their backup, a handful of flamingos.
So if anybody wanted Kanan today, they'd have to wait until he was done attempting to rescue his dog from angry waterbirds in a daring combination of grabbing his dog under his arm and running, and holding out his other hand and trying to soothe the birds through the Force.
And that was how Kanan Jarrus learned that ducks probably were creatures of the dark side.

“Need help?” she called.

He didn't quite have a game plan yet, beyond running around with a dog under one arm. He didn't want to hurt the birds, even though he could pick them off easily. But this wasn't something he wanted to have to continue doing forever until he died, either.

“What did you do?” she asked.
no subject
"You don't want to beat on the dog," he murmured, trying again to make a connection and calm them. "You want to go hang out in the water."
Stance was squirming by this point, trying to get down. Kanan was having none of it.
no subject
Because she Sydney want to hang out in the water.

"Not unless you're in the mood for a brisk swim," he replied. A few of the ducks stood around idly, eyeing the trio uncertainly. Their flamingo backup mulled around for a second or two, and then turned and headed back toward the pond. "Just chatting with the birds, that's all."
Because that was a perfectly normal thing to do.

She was not having a very good time with it.
And since she'd probably taken her motorcycle out for stress relief more times since arriving on this dumb old island than she had in an entire year back home, she decided to just take a walk, get some fresh air, clear her mind, and take a small amount of pleasure from watching a man trying to save his dog from a flock of angry ducks...and flamingos?
God damn it. Why were there flamingos?
And now she kind of missed her dumb old dog that she left in dumb old Argentina with her dumb old ex-fiancé.
Great.
But at least she wasn't the dude trying to rescue a dog from a flock of ducks and flamingos. It was the little things in life...

But at least once that whole debacle was over, he did notice that there was someone else in the park.
"... Enjoy the show?"
There was a rainbow-spotted dog trotting her way, looking curious, now.

"Better than the circus at the station, anyway," Rosa shrugged. The logistic of squirrel interviews and interrogations were something she could have gone her whole life without knowing, and yet there she was.
"What the hell did you do to piss them off?" she added, followed by the real question here: "Why are there flamingos?"
no subject
"Stance," he said, simply. Sharply. The dog paused, looked between Kanan and the new woman, and then started trotting back toward his person with a little whine. Looking back at the woman, he added, "He's a fan of the birds. The birds aren't a fan of him."
He glanced toward the pond.
"I have no idea what the story is behind the pink ones."

So Rosa smirked at the dog as it went whining back (what? She liked intimidating small, cute things, and since she didn't have a Santiago or a Boyle here, other people's dogs would have to do for now) and then jerked her chin up at the guy.
"They usually give you this much trouble?"
So help her, if her next...."case" involved unruly ducks and misplaced flamingos....
no subject
He reached down to give Stance a pat on the head. There there, buddy. You were dumb, but you were cute.

And then she realized what she was doing, tilted her head back, and let out a frustrated sound.
She did not just speculate on whether the odd behavior of the ducks had anything to do with stolen nuts.
Then she shook her head, realized she was acting as crazy as she felt. "Sorry," she said. "But this place is driving me nuts. But, uh, I'm glad your dog didn't get murdered by ducks."
Because....then she'd have to arrest ducks as well as squirrels.

She couldn't quite decide what vibe the woman was putting out, but it was a vibe that clearly brooked no idiocy and Tip was taking thorough mental notes. And wondering how long it would take her to save up to get a motorcycle jacket.
no subject
So the guy with the dumb dog was teaching kids how to use a sword?
That was something she could approve heartily of. And it made her kind of wish she'd brought more of her own weapons with her. Granted, she brought as much as she could fit on her motorcycle and she could fit a surprising amount of weapons on anything, but still....
You could never have too many weapons. And if there were kids running around with weapons, it was probably a good thing that they actually knew how to use them.

"Hi."
Tip had never been super great at quiet.
no subject
Unless cold medicine was involved.
But she did return the lift of chin.
"What's up?"
no subject
"Sword lessons."

Especially since Stance had sort of had it coming to him.

It was hard to be intimidated about sparring when you'd just watched your opponent run in a panic from a flock of birds.
