So sue him, Sparkle was kind of absolutely in love with Elias, the kid who had showed up for him and Leto twice, now. It kind of made him wonder, after year number two, just what the odds were of this being more than a quirk of the island, someday.

And that thought always gave him a weird feeling in his chest, a kind of shortness of breath...

He didn't think it was a bad feeling, though. Just... maybe a not yet feeling.

In any case, he'd brought the boy with him to work today, and was entertaining him by letting him run rampant around the clothing store, picking out bits and pieces for outfits for them both to wear. He'd left a message for Leto, after all, and so they wanted to look their best in case he came around.

... In whatever capacity 'their best' could be managed when letting a nine year old do all the outfit coordinating.

"What do you think, Elias? A scarf? No scarf? Different scarf?"

Adventure wardrobe.

"Purple scarf," Elias said with a firm nod. "And glittery purple nail polish."

Leto might not share their taste.

That was fine. Sparkle kind of loved it.

"Nice," he laughed, grinning. "And should I pair that with the orange shirt, or the green one?"

There were so many options. This was going to be a beautiful technicolour trainwreck.

Leto didn't share their taste, but that was fine. Sparkle and Elias were adorable. He stopped just inside the door, looking between the two of them.

"I hope I'm not interrupting."

"Father!" Elias, still holding a bright yellow T-shirt in his hand, ran across the room to give Leto a hug.

"Leto," Sparkle added, maybe not quite as enthusiastically as Elias, if only because running after a kid for a day was tiring. He still made his way over to greet him, waiting his turn before leaning in for a kiss. "Glad you could make it."

Sparkle was excused for not showing the same enthusiasm as an excited kid. Leto kissed him, an arm still around Elias. "I wouldn't want to miss this. How are you doing?"

The question was directed to Sparkle. To Elias Leto said: "Are you finding something nice to wear, then?"

That was a stupid question, really.

"Of course I have. Let me show you."

He let go and hurried back to the pile of clothes on the chair.

Theron hadn't been able to tease out many details about Dessa's home life (mostly that her mother was still in the picture and a suggestion that the Force sensitivity they weren't talking about mightn't have only come from his side of the family tree), but one thing she'd been more than happy to share was her very low opinion of his 'non-existent' fashion sense and 'barely-existent' wardrobe.

Which was how he came to be bodily shoved into the store this morning.

Oh, hey! Sparkle glanced up from his own... somewhat eclectic fashion combinations today to see one of his students get shoved into the store by someone who... was not one of his students.

On this weekend of all weekends, it didn't take much to figure out what was up.

"Family bonding day at Demon Marcus," he said with a little grin. "Let me guess. Somebody called the fashion police."

He was merrily ignoring that at the moment, he was also someone who probably needed a fashion intervention. The right attitude could sell anything, dammit.

There was probably a Sith Lord or three who'd consider Sparkle's look positively lowkey.

Besides nothing could be as terrible as those holos Uncle Gault had shown her of the time Dad had decided to infiltrate the cult of bad haircuts.

"He needs new clothes," Dessa announced, gesturing at Theron. "Just look at him."

"Hey!" Theron, honey, the only reason your legs weren't bare from the knee down was that padawan robes were cut loose to begin with.


"Hey, professor."

[myownface]

"Hey, Theron," Sparkle said, grinning a little more. "I mean, I wasn't going to say it in class, but she isn't wrong."

Sparkle. Sparkle, be nice.

Or look at Dessa with a little smirk and ask, "So, what were you thinking? Top to bottom wardrobe overhaul? The robes have got to go, right?"

Cheerfully ignoring Theron muttering something about material possessions, Dessa smirked back. "I let him keep the cloak because it still fits," she told Sparkle. Let. "But the rest of that look isn't working for him."

Just be glad her mother wasn't here, Theron, you'd probably end up entirely in shades of green.

Media would go back to breaking her mom's brains soon enough--though Alluka was taking it better than Ringo, which wasn't a surprise--but, really, clothes.

And also Sparkle.

"Good morning!" she carolled, posing dramatically in the door. "I demand the shiniest, glitteriest clothes!"

A beat.

"But they also have to look good or Mom will disown me."

Okay, Alluka wouldn't disown her, but she'd judge.

"Mom's Alluka, right?" Sparkle grinned faintly. They'd been at breakfast at Hannibal's yesterday, of course. "So, shiny, glittery, and preferably a little ruffly, huh?"

Alluka liked cute. Sparkle could appreciate that.

"And Ringo!" Media said brightly, flashing him the "V" sign. Victory was hers! And his! "But Mom says to ignore Mom's fashion sense, so shiny, glittery, and ruffly works for me."

Sorry not sorry, Ringo.

Sparkle's grin turned into a little laugh.

"Well, you have to do what feels right for you," he replied. "What colour scheme do you want to go with?"

'All of them' was a valid answer.

Oh good, because that was the one Media was going to go with.

Her hair shifted scarlet for a moment. "All of them?" she suggested, holding up one strand of hair. "I'm not picky."

Media could make anything look good.

[myownface]

"Ohmygod," Sparkle said, clapping his hands in delight. "Rainbows! We're going to dress you in so many rainbows!"

Gabrielle still had no idea why she was here, but she was small and resourceful enough to have cocooned herself in a warm place last night (and only have a little bit of silk left in her hair now), and now she was wandering around just taking everything in.

And currently peeking in the door, looking at all the clothes.

Sparkle blinked up at the girl, and then offered her a little smile, waving.

"Hey there, kiddo," he said. "You want to come in and look at the pretty clothes?"

Gabrielle grinned. "Yes!" She bounced in, a little springier than human, and hurried over. "Hi, I'm Gabi!"

Now that was a lot of spring, right there.

"Well, hey there, Gabi," Sparkle said, crouching down with a little grin on his face. "Are you visiting the island this weekend, too?"

Or was she a local he just hadn't met yet?

"I think so?" she said. "I haven't found a way back home yet, but I'm sure my parents will find me!"

She had a lot of faith in them.

Sparkle gave a thoughtful nod at that.

"Well, who are your parents? If I know them, I can give them a call and have them come to pick you up," he offered. "You've been here since yesterday?"

And now he was worried about where she'd spent the night.

"Have you eaten since or anything?"
