Trooper Station; Monday [04/09].
This was all just...weird, even for this place. But at least Rosa had two babysitters for her dog while she was at work, because she sure as hell wasn't bringing the kids with her. It didn't even make any sense; sure, she remembered thinking she was pregnant at one point when she was dating Marcus, but this Ray kid was claiming to pretty much be that kid. But he was younger than "Adrienne," who (and she had to admit, that really explained the hair) claimed Rosa'd gone through with her wedding to Pimento, and all that happened after her relationship with Marcus. So clearly they were nothing but impostors sent in by someone who knew way too much about Rosa's past but did a real shit job of trying to put it together.
What kind of weirdo would use kids to get in someone's head like that? And to what purpose? Rosa knew she'd made plenty of enemies over the years, but this was just messed up.
Good thing she was on desk duty today, because she was going to spend the whole time following some tracks and looking up missing kids by the description of her supposed offspring to try to figure out where they really came from. Even if it was another case of the island being weird like the radio and all the previous files on weekends like this were true, she wasn't actually going to believe it was happening to her.
She found a small spot on the desk for a certain little cactus that she was thisclose to just throwing in the trash but ultimately found that she couldn't (not for sentimental reasons, obviously, it was a nice plant and it was free so whatever, plants were nice), and then set to work.

If it was to come in and thank her and praise her for the lift on Wednesday, though, she'd gladly take that. Somehow, though, she doubted that was going to be the case.

"I just wanted to make sure your children found their way home safely. They seemed a little lost yesterday."
She smirked when she saw the cactus, trying not to look at it.

Why had the island given Rosa two children that she didn't care about, and no child for Seivarden? Obviously she wasn't thinking that, but somewhere inside her was an uncomfortable feeling stemming from that thought.
"I'm glad to hear they found you though. They seemed upset." Seivarden offered her best false polite smile.
She would have made a better mother.

"I don't blame 'em," she said with a shrug. "I'm upset to be stuck here, too. They're just kids, though, they don't deserve this."
What the hell was up with that smile, anyway? Fake as shit, and it reminded her of the smarmy ass smiles on the faces of sociopaths that swore up and down they'd never even seen that girl, much less murdered her.
Granted, Rosa saw that in most smiles, so...
Her chin quirked up. "Seemed your shop had quite a few kids stop by on Saturday," she noted.
Considering the radio had mentioned not only her name, but stealing and kidnapping around Covent Garden, it had been more than just a little noteworthy.

She wasn't going to say anything about Sparkle's kid trying to steal a flower.
"Yours just seemed lost. Well, at least the nice one did. She wanted a flower."
no subject
"That's new," he commented, raising an eyebrow and tilting his head in the general direction of that certain little cactus.

"Dad! Dad! Is this like a real police station?" Tyrus asked, looking around with bright and excited eyes. "Are there any criminals in here? Can we meet them? Are there any muuuurderers?"
"Is there candy?" Hayley was of a more pragmatic bent. "Where's the candy?"
no subject
He briefly considered siccing the kids on Calvin or Ralph by claiming they were the ones with the candy, but then thought better of it.
"Check the drawer on my desk," he said instead. After they'd shown up on Saturday, he'd done a little research, and if the pattern held true, the kids would be going back home tonight. So yeah, he was going to spoil them a little. He could deal with the sugar high, and possible-future-him could deal with the inevitable crash.
no subject
"Well, if there aren't any murderers, who do you keep locked up?" Tyrus asked. His sister has pretty much claimed everything in their dad's desk as hers, but that just left the rest of the station for him to prowl around. "Have you ever arrested anybody? Oh oh! Did you ever arrest Mom?"

Let's just say it was a good thing Liam hadn't actually taken a sip of the tea he'd set to steeping as soon as he'd arrived. Otherwise there may have been spit-taking.
"That's. Um. A grown up joke?" he tried.
no subject
"What?" Hayley demanded. "What? What?"
"When Dad says it like that, he means kissing."
...Sure, kid.
no subject
Rosa looked up enough to make sure Liam was talking about what she thought he was and then shrugged. "Got it as a gift," she said. "Doesn't really match with my apartment."

Theme was one of those words that would always cause a bit of a twitch when applied at work, yes.
"Maybe we should get Ralph a bonsai, completely the whole set..."
no subject
That was obviously, Hayley.
no subject
"Yeah, I can tell," she said.
"Don't touch anything. It's all...highly sensitive material," no it wasn't, "and if you touch it, I'll...have to...put you in jail."
Probably not. Maybe. If she could get away with it.
And she really hope Liam caught every single moment of the glare he was getting over the kid's head, because seriously.

She turned around to yell at Tyrus, "HA HA, I'M ABOUT TO GET ARRESTED AND YOU'RE NOT!"
no subject
"Why would you want to go to jail?"
What kind of psychopathic kids were you raising, Kincaid? Although throwing the girl in jail would at least keep her contained. It wasn't a terrible idea, really.
no subject
She looked at the desk of paperwork and then back to Rosa, holding her hands out. "Do I gotta touch somethin' or do you just wanna arrest me?"
no subject
"I'm not throwing you a cell just so you can mess with the locks," she said. "You pick the locks, we gotta change 'em, 'cause they've been compromised. That just makes more work for me."
There was a slight pause.
"I can stuff you in a locker and you can try to get out of that," she offered.
