Luke's, Sunday

Kanan came in today to a pretty distracted Luke's staff. They were all taking turns covering each others' shifts so that they could take some time out of their day to call their moms. Which, Kanan had to admit, was kind of sweet. Hell, he was even sort of touched when the busboy came over to him and asked him if he needed to make any calls.

Kanan shook his head.

"Not today, no. But thanks."

Hell, it was even kind of nice when the busboy gave a respectful apology if he had stepped on anything sensitive. Kanan wasn't entirely sure what was up with today, but working with a staff that seemed to actually be decent people who weren't just out to make him cranky was, for once, a nice change of pace.

Today's Specials:
Rosewater Cardamom Pancakes with Saffron Syrup
Pink Power Pancakes
The Kitty - Peanut Butter Pancakes with any fruit toppings you want!
All pancake orders come with optional candied flower garnish today!

Huh. Fancy. Kanan settled in and, thanks to a warning from the kitchen staff, braced himself for what they insisted was going to be a busy brunch.

In a turn of events that would likely surprise and shock everyone, a message came through to Kanan's phone at some point in the late morning.

No text, just a picture. Of a crudely made stack of uneven pancakes, the top of which was decorated with blueberries. Two blueberries marked the eyes, and a downward curving line of other blueberries to make the mouth.

Yup. Summer was sending you sad pancakes today, BDG.

Despite her dedication to being super dramatic today, Summer had to smirk a little at that. Those looked heckin' good.

Show off.

Followed by a short video of syrup being poured over her sad pancakes slowly, the left eye being dislodge and sliding down to the pancake's cheek, cutting off just at the start of Jerry starting to tell Summer to put her phone away.

Which, of course, she didn't do.

Pancakes = me syrup=boredom

She was just drowning in it.

Distract me--because what else would have possibly have going on today?--from my lame-o family.

Dad's being super extra now that him and mom are back 2gether and grampa rick keeps upstaging him w/o even trying

It would be hilarious if she wasn't directly involved in the middle of it.

It's not nearly that thrilling. But good luck making an Edible Arrangement look good when your FIL gets a Zyrnorvian crystal lily from Merikon 8 that glows and sings and emits serotonin or whatever. also, he had to cancel his reservation to Le Chez Froofle Le Fluer because we're going to go see a star explode instead. Which isn't too bad. that place sucks.

"Summer," Jerry tried again. "Put away your phone, we're trying to have a nice family brunch."

"I'm good, Dad," she murmured. "It's called multitasking."

Hey, the picnic was this weekend wasn't it? am I missing any good newbs?

Summer was about to inform him that, duh, obviously there were no Summer, but then she realized that, as much as she'd like to make a statement about her individuality and awesomeness, they both knew all too well that it was probably a real possibility that there could have been another Summer, robot or clone or real-but-from-another-dimension.

So she just focused on the two that stood out.

Mando girl and Meep boy???

The Mandalorian thing, obviously, interested her if they were from BDG's galaxy, and not just for a potential marketing perspective, although that was most of it. She chewed her sad pancakes a little thoughtfully for a moment, giving her dad at least a little leeway on not having her phone glued to her hand the whole times, and decided to touch on that maybe later. The other part was captivating her much more anyway.

Like, literally, only says Meep?

As if she hadn't encountered single-word species before. But the more she thought about it, the funnier it became.
