He was a terrible person. This was a known fact

"You know the way to my heart," Tony said. It was through his stomach.

"Is it through your stomach?" Steve teased.

"Just like yours." Also, basic human kindness.

"Probably why we work so well," Steve said, smiling.

"Go," he said with one last kiss.

"Back soon," Steve promised, waving over his head.

"See if they sell coffee!" Tony, no.

[heroic_jawline]

"You'll drink Thai iced tea and you'll like it!" Steve hollered.

Tony laughed, watching his retreating form with a fond little smile. Because his sappiness knew no bounda.

Steve returned twenty minutes later with way more bags of food than two people should be able to eat.

"I really need to take you to restaurants who aren't used to you," Tony said, clearing off a space so they could eat.

Steve laughed. "But then I don't get the bulk order discount. I think they think we treat our class or something."

"Now there's a class idea," Tony said, digging for his curry. "Competitive eating."

"Around the 4th?" he suggested. "Don't they do that hot dog eating competition down at Coney Island?"

[imafuturist]

"You just want to make a student cry by eating your weight in hotdogs," he teased.

[heroic_jawline]

"Oooh, I can compete too?" Steve grinned. "Hadn't even thought about that part."

[imafuturist]

"You'd do it even without competing," Tony said, pointing his chopsticks at him accusingly.

[heroic_jawline]

"Well, I do have a soft spot for hotdogs," Steve said.

[imafuturist]

"Next year we won't do a romantic birthday trip to Europe. It'll be a romantic birthday trip to Coney Island."

So not romantic at all.

"Do you think they'd let me enter?" Steve asked eagerly. "Oooh, or Thor?"

There would be a hotdog shortage on the East Coast afterwards.

"I think you and Thor and the Hulk would all be in your own category together." And Tony would pay to see that disaster.

"That would be hilarious," Steve said, grinning.

"Don't ask me for sympathy when you end up puking."

Tony would mock him and still rub his belly soothingly. Like a good boyfriend.

"I won't," Steve promised, plowing his way through the entire boxful of chicken satay like he'd never been taught to share.

It helped that Tony was still only halfway through his meal.

"God, how did they keep you fed," he teased, poking him in the stomach.
