Fandom Post Office, May 22 (Tuesday)
When Éponine came in this morning, there was a lemur on the counter. Just . . . a lemur, sitting there atop the register, blinking sleepily at her.
"You can't have my coffee," she said immediately, clutching said coffee and her bag of pastries protectively and glaring at the lemur, because she had priorities. "And you can't eat the mail and supplies, or run off the customers, but other than that do what you like."
The lemur just blinked at her again, and she started to go about her morning routine.
"Say!" she blurted out after a few minutes, when a thought occurred to her. "You aren't a person normally, are you?"
Again, the lemur said nothing.
". . . what the hell was I expecting, otherwise? Never mind."
And she went about her duties, paying the lemur no mind; it seemed inclined to behave, anyway, and random animals turning up was just the sort of thing one learned to take in stride. Besides, it was cute.
