Luke's, Tuesday
Mitsutada was still dealing with the kitchen staff being a little overly 'respectful'. They were definitely making fun of him. Too bad for them that he actually didn't mind and the cooking all seemed to go much smoother.
He did find that they kept making the specials board a little... punnier than he preferred.
Today's Egg-cellent Specials
Tamagoyaki
Omurice
Chawanmushi
"What if they're vegan?" Mitsutada mused as he looked at the board. The staff shrugged and then added.
Grilled Eggplant
Mitsutada shrugged and just went with it.
Luke's was open!and OCD-free

Luke's was open!

He was squinting at the specials board as he slid into a seat at the counter.
"You know," he mused, "if ever there was any one thing certain in my life, it would be that I'll always have no clue what anything on that board even is on the days I'm not in working myself."

The other parts were understandable.

Go on and smirk it up, Mitsutada. Kanan was on a roll when it came to admitting his own ignorance today.

"It's a vegetable, a little bitter, large and shaped like an egg," he said. "We slice it and grill it. Pretty simple. The others are dishes from my home country. Folded omelette, a runny omelette over rice with a savory sauce, and an egg custard dish." He pointed to each on the board in turn. "Savory custard, not sweet."

He stepped back into the kitchen and came out rather quickly with the dish, which he cut open in front of Kanan, so the egg ran out and coated over the rice as per tradition. He then drizzled some brown sauce over top and presented it to Kanan.
"Not something my old master would have made, but a fine dish made from the blending of traditions."

Since he'd spent this morning leaning into his own traditions, he was kind of on a roll today.

He was bad enough at puzzling out his own reality's timelines around here. He was pretty sure somewhere, someone had just completely split off from his own, and he had no idea what the catalyst for that was.
Never in a million years would he guess 'Mickey Mouse.'

He put his hand down again, more interested in the conversation than in asking, for the time being.
"Sounds like you've seen a hell of a lot," he noted. "You might put me to shame, there."
no subject
"As for what I've seen, well, it's not like all of that was war. Eventually I spent most of my time in a museum on display."
no subject
"Okay, so you saw a hell of a lot, and then a hell of a lot of people saw you." Which was an interseting proposition, all on its own. "What's that even like? I can't imagine."

"I suppose there's little purpose to a sword or a warrior if there's no battle to be fought," he said, sounding thoughtful. It was hard not to think of the thousands of lightsabers who had nobody to wield them, when talking to a man who had experienced life from that side of the equation. "Or no means to fight it."

He scooped up some of his rice and paused for a moment to eat it, then nod his approval. Okay, he'd eat Mitsutada's cooking anytime.
"I must just take it for granted."
Well. He had so damn much of it these days...

"It seems like I'm taking a lot for granted," he noted wryly. "But for what it's worth, I'm glad you've got a chance to experience these things."

"You know, I am?" Kanan raised his eyebrows, looking down at the dish. "I might have to ask you for the recipe, if you don't mind? It'd be nice to be able to cook more than 'meat in a skillet and some kind of vegetable' with any measure of confidence around here."

"So long as it's edible once it's on my plate, I'll be happy," Kanan laughed. "The variety is welcome, thank you."
