The Park, Friday Afternoon
It was beginning to feel a little bit to Kanan as though perhaps he ought to look into having a shed or something build at the park in order to store the small collection of swords he'd amassed for the sake of these Fridays over the past nine months or so. Which was all a very strange thought for him, considering nine months was generally about eight months longer than he tended to settle anywhere, he'd been on the island significantly longer than that already, and here he was giving some measure of consideration to the possibility of putting up a permanent structure somewhere.
Granted, he probably wouldn't. It was just that he was starting to look the part of a wandering weapons merchant, with a pair of bamboo swords over one shoulder, a blaster and a training remote on one hip, his temporary leaf blade at his other hip, and his lightsaber, actually assembled this week before he'd even arrived, clipped to his belt not far from that. Was there such a thing as accidental sword club overkill?
Sure, but at least each and every one of these weapons had a purpose for being here. Even if, for the time being, that purpose was, 'sit over there by the bench next to Stance.'
Running through his old forms last week as Caleb had actually jogged his memory on a few slightly more advanced patterns he hadn't been able to quite dredge up by muscle memory alone, and so, before it could fade again, he was stepping right into it, lightsaber ignited, throwing his all into brushing up on his Form III, taking a little personal thrill in filling in old blanks with the actual steps, instead of just throwing in whatever seemed like it might work just as well.
Okay, so, having basically everybody he knew on the island meet Caleb was that kind of intimidating that made his brain itch if he thought about it too hard, but the island had also handed him an advanced Soresu refresher course on a silver platter, so he couldn't be too mad.

Hopefully.

As Stance wiggled his way over to say an excited hi, Kanan finished his pattern, shut off his lightsaber, and turned to smile their way with a nod.
He felt almost as bad about interrupting puppy playtime as Rey might have felt about interrupting lightsaber practice.

Hair notwithstanding. At least that would be back to normal soon enough, too.

It wasn't that bad, Kanan.

They didn't have to talk. Kanan would be practicing.
So Seivarden arrived, Issa struggling in her arms before she put her down on the grass.

Of course Stance had to ruin that by giving a little bark of excitement before running over to greet his friend, and there wasn't really any pretending after that, so Kanan lowered his lightsaber as he turned, and, at the very least, offered Seivarden a polite nod in greeting.

At least the previous hostility had changed to a different kind of tension. It didn't mean they had to talk.

Stance, meanwhile, was prancing in a happy puppy circle around Issa. Hello, friend!

Seivarded, relieved, poured herself a cup of the tea she had brought with her.

... Poor dog.

Too angry. He was still faintly irked.

You know, when Caleb had suggested that Tip could turn around and give her teacher some pointers.

She was nosy, sorry-not-sorry, Kanan.
It was quite a selection, though.

Kanan didn't so much as miss a beat in his patterns as he called out to Ino, back to her, a little grin on his face.
Hey, he didn't get her out here often these days. He had to give her a hard time.
Stance, on the other hand, had more of a mind to just try to lick her hand off.

The dog, who was totally going to keep her. Hi, friend! Good friend!

Stance, that was who.
"Rude," she said, "I ain't even done nothin' but look yet."

"Heard you been busy on Fridays these days," Ino said easily. "Imagine you got all kinds of lessons goin' on?"
