Luke's, Sunday
Kanan walked into Luke's to find everything... fairly normal. A few disappointed looks from the kitchen staff at his relatively back to normal hair, maybe, but hell, that was better than a million other things they could be doing. They did insist on taking breaks today, much like they'd done on Mother's Day, to call their fathers, though.
And this time around they knew better than to ask Kanan if he needed to do the same, which he appreciated. He'd never had parents, only parent figures, after all, and none of those were around, anymore.
Today's Specials:
Dads Eat Half-Off Today!
Try the Pancakes!
Kanan decided that he wouldn't call anybody on the somewhat lazy specials today on account of the holiday. The cook thanked him by putting extra berries on his lunch pancakes. Win.

And it went exactly like that every year. Even if she did half suspect that this year in particular was due to a little bit of grampa-related sabotage.
This one, Summer texted to Kanan, followed by a link.
She was...mostly joking. But in the slim chance he was feeling ambitious, it would be worth the attempt.

You give me TWO DAYS to learn this? You're lucky I like you, Summer.
It was going to be awful, she had to realize that, right?

It would be pretty great, too.
And it was her birthday...
But it was also a lot to ask, and she'd feel bad not giving him an out, especially since he had been willing to do it without even questioning her on it. As much as it pained her to do so, reminding herself that there may still be time for R.E.M. eventually, she decided to give him the other awful choice she'd considered and make him choose between the lesser of two delightful evils.
Well ok, its either that one or this one.
And there was the link. Yes, she thought she was hilarious. Also, a terrible person, which somehow he still didn't realize. But at least it wasn't the Shatner version...that would be too much, even if that version would have made anyone else totally confident in their own performance.

And again, a very important pause taken to listen to the song before Kanan's reply, which came along with a bit of laughing on the side that she unfortunately wouldn't be able to hear.
Taking pity on me, are you? I appreciate that almost as much as Kitty telling me that Wonderwall was a better choice than One Week, last week.
Of course he'd gone to look them both up afterwards. He definitely felt like he'd dodged a blaster bolt there.

And now she sort of wondered if these band came up with these songs just to be shitty karaoke songs to force your friends to do because they didn't know any better.
Just remember, tho. one choice leads to greatness, and the other is the pity choice. i trust you'll choose which path is the right one for u
A little stab at the ego never hurt anyone, right?
Also, though, if you do the first one, it's absolutely tradition for you to shout out LEONARD BERNSTEIN when you get to that part
If she didn't clue him into these important cultural expectations, who would?

And now I'm going to spend the next few days just googling how to properly pronounce Berstein.
... Look, it wasn't exactly a 'galaxy far, far away' sort of name.

BURN. STINE. It's not even that hard, BDG.

Sure, why not Leonard? They had names like Luke and Caleb and Jason-but-spelled funny.

No, Summer wasn't yelling. Caps lock was just fun, okay?

AND NOW I KNOW.
