The Holo-Scene, Tuesday

The Holo-Scene's front counter was covered in tricornered hats. Raven hadn't actually ordered any tricornered hats, but hey, she wasn't one to pass up a decent theme when Fandom handed one to her! She had one pushed jauntily back from her face as she attempted to play "despacito" on a tin whistle. Shouts and occasional cannon fire could be heard from holosuite one.

Kanan was on a quest today. A quest to find somewhere that he could train and also not die of heatstroke.

And so, lo, he was walking in today, lightsaber on his belt, armor at home, wearing a short-sleeved button-down shirt and kind of feeling naked as a result.

"Please tell me the suites are air conditioned?"

Priorities.

"They can have literally any environment you want, so long as it's not going to kill you," Raven said. "You could hold a snowball fight in there if you wanted."

"Wouldn't actually mind being knee-deep in snow at the moment," Kanan admitted, smiling wryly. "I'm looking for an alternative to baking my brains out in the park until this heat wave passes, and couldn't help but think of those angry guys we fought in that sim that one time."

Raven smiled and nodded. "Klingons make great opponents. You can beat up on them all you like and they just keep coming back for more."

"Suckers for punishment," Kanan agreed. And then paused to consider. "I don't suppose these suites could be made to imitate... well, not the Troopers in town. They're kind of useless. But a military unit geared up in a similar way?"

Stormtroopers. It couldn't hurt to get more time in working around taking those down.

"Sure. There are plenty of military styles in the databanks already. It shouldn't be hard to slap a trooper skin onto one of them. Especially if we can get one to come in and let the holosuite scan his image."

"I'd want to make a few tweaks to their gear," Kanan noted, frowning thoughtfully. "I want a training session, but clones are a little too close to home. But it'd be a good start."

The last thing he needed was some kind of PTSD fight-or-flight episode in the holosuite. He avoided the hell out of the station as it was for just that reason.

Admittedly, if you were going to have a PTSD episode anywhere, in a room that was programmed to keep you as safe as possible while you used it wasn't a terrible place to do it.

But yes, avoiding them entirely was generally the best bet.

"You've taught at the school, right?" Raven asked. "Because if you've used the Danger Shop, you shouldn't have any trouble tweaking the programs here. It's all voice commands. You can just start the program and ask the computer to make adjustments as you go."

"That, I can work with," Kanan decided. "For the time being, maybe I'll settle for more of the angry guys. And some snow."

The snow was going to be a sticking point today, apparently.

"Klingons in the snow," Raven confirmed, and did a quick search through her programs. ". . . Not the romance version. Ah, here we go. Want me to make their weapons plasma-resistant again?"

"I'd appreciate that, yeah," Kanan agreed, grinning a little. "It'd be a short simulation otherwise."

"You sure? Klingons do everything big. . . ."

"... You now have me terrified that you're going to load up the romance sim," Kanan noted, side-eyeing Raven.

"That'd be pretty bad for business," Raven said. "I can offer you a discount if you decide you want to try it after, though."

"I'm equal parts terrified and curious," Kanan admitted. And then he shook his head. "Nah, I'll stick to the combat sims, if it's all the same."

"It's up to you," Raven said, calling up the program. "Alright, holosuite 2 is ready whenever you are. If you want to up the difficulty level at any point, just tell the computer. I've got you starting out at level three out of ten. That way you can warm up."

Kanan grinned and pulled out his lightsaber.

"Thanks," he replied, putting the pieces together as he turned to head for the holosuite. "I'll catch you on the other side, then."

So many fake Klingons were going to die today.

Raven saluted. "Have fun!"

I should go back to Colonial Williamsburg some time. They have the best hats.
