Eliot had had lots of plans for the diner today, mostly involving cleaning, inventory, and paperwork. His staff was enormously relieved when he got a text ten minutes into his shift and spent most of the day on the phone with his niece instead.

"A stunt woman, huh?" Eliot laughed. "They do a lot of stuntwork in upstate New York these days?" He listened for a few moments, his eyebrows climbing. "Really. Wow. Yeah, I'm definitely going to have to look that up. And it's spinning?" He whistled. "Well, I'm really proud of you, hon. What'd your mom say?" He rolled his eyes. "Cass, no -- Because she ain't had a problem with my boyfriend being black, so I'm pretty sure she's gonna be fine with your South Asian girlfriend. Even if she does work on something called a 'Wheel of Death'."

Man, now I want a curry. I haven't had good Indian food in ages.
