“We’re watching an animated film today,” Peter announced. “But I watched this one first to make sure it wasn’t traumatizing.” He paused. “Very strange, but not traumatic. So, get your food and drink, and settle in.”

When they had, he pressed play.

Kaidan has once again brought horror tea. This time, it was a muddy purple. The squidlike mass of bags floated in the center.

He seemed way, way too pleased with that tea.

Peter eyed it in confusion. “Do I want to know what that is?”

"Blueberry juice, orange blossom honey, and a whole lot of Lipton tea bags," Kaidan grinned. "Found the recipe on a mom-blog."

“You frequent mom blogs?” Peter asked, a bit bemused. He was still getting out a cup, though, because that sounded pretty good to him.

"I do when I'm looking for drinks that would make a five year old girl go into a three-day sugar buzz," Kaidan confirmed, throwing a thumb in Kanan's direction and stage-whispering, "Secretly a five year old girl who wants the sugar buzz."

Peter grinned. "Hey, if the sugar makes him happy, I'm not arguing. This is pretty good."

Kanan was staring at that tea again this week.

"Why is it purple?"

Look, he just had bad luck with beverages, purple, and things having anything to do with Kaidan's reality. It was important to check.

"Blueberry juice, honey, tea," Kaidan said happily.

He was so pleased with this.

Run.

...

This was Kanan, reaching for a cup.

Kaidan strangled a smirk. "So. How many did you buy?"

"Eight," Kanan muttered. "I got some for Hera, too."

Dammit, Kaidan.

Kaidan grinned at him. "Well, good, at least she'll get some. I mean, if you'd bought two, they wouldn't even have made it home with you."

"But I would have been stuck with the papers as evidence," Kanan confirmed, entirely without shame. "This way, she gets four. Probably."

"There's no trash cans between the tea shop and your apartment?" Kaidan smirked, "Or would the point have been to let her catch you?"

"Somebody needs to hold me accountable for this cupcake addiction," Kanan muttered, but there was a little smile somewhere behind it all. "Who buys eight cupcakes for two people, Kaidan? Who?"

Besides him.

"Knowing Hera will get like, two of those if she moves fast.." Kaidan teased, "You really are going to have to start running."

"I'll work that into my day," Kanan sighed, but he couldn't entirely bite a grin back, either. "Stance'll appreciate it, anyway."

"Day, night, wee small throes of the morning," Kaidan said easily, "Always good times for a run."

He'd know. It wasn't like he was sleeping much.

"Well, hell. I'm in the habit of running, anyway. Might as well make that literal."

His legs were going to hate him tomorrow.

Had that just earned a tug on his ponytail? Yes it had. He could try to block, but really, Kaidan was pretty fast when he had incentive, and Kanan being snarky about one of his friends definitely counted as incentive.

Even when the friend was Kanan himself.

"Good for you, A+ job burning off those calories!" Kaidan chirped.

"Hey," Kanan muttered, swatting at Kaidan's hand. It was hard to get upset in a conversation like this one, though. "Okay, okay. I'll take up running. It's something that'll come in handy in the future anyway, I'm sure."

Liam was... still trying to wrap his mind around the idea of a dragon possibly existing somewhere in Baltimore.

So, time to do something nice and mundane like go watch a movie.

Wonder if there’s s something in the water. Or the brownies. (There isn’t.)

Kanan squinted at the movie as they watched it, trying to figure out what in the world was going on.

...

He'd had less confusing Force visions. Space.

Seivarden glanced at Kanan, trying to see of thise made more sense to him.

Kanan glanced right back at Seivarden and... shrugged.

Yeah, no. He had nothin'.

... So much for nice and mundane.

And to make it even more surreal, apparently this was actually a film one of his parents- Beckett, he was fairly certain- had seen as a child, because the whole thing was giving him that strange deja-vu feeling that happened when he remembered things that he didn't know he actually had memories of.

Hey, he threw himself on this one first.

"Little girl falls through portal, winds up in wacky world with people of different species and races, has wacky hijinx. Hm. Where've I heard this story before?" Kaidan asked.

"When you put it that way, just about all of us?" Peter said.
