Luke's Diner, Saturday
Miguel folded his arms. "I don't care if it's a regional delicacy. I'm not even saying no because of the reason you clearly want me to. I'm saying we can't put fried spider on the menu because nobody will eat it."
He waved off the cook. "You know what? I'll do the specials today. You want spider, you eat it."
Today's Specials
Buffalo chicken potato skins
Butternut blue cheese mac 'n' cheese
S'more sandwich cookies
Luke's was open!

Okay, so the last thing Amaya usually wanted to do was cook, but now that Luke's was pretty much across the street from her new place, and since she'd practically relocated an entire armory out of the old place, she figured it might be good to stop in and grab a well-earned bite.
"Afternoon," she said, after a cursory glance at the specials board revealed not nearly enough meat on it, "what's good today?"

Miguel sighed and rolled his eyes. "Apart from the specials, the hamburgers are always good, or I'll take requests." He held up a finger before the cook could speak up again. "Reasonable requests."

...well, with a varied population such as what the island had...
...and now Amaya was kind of wondering how they might tasted if you grilled 'em right with maybe some barbecue, and she shook her head and reasoned that was just the hunger from a hard day's work talking.

Hey, it could be a fairly common (though generally frowned upon) business practice 'round Daventry-parts.

He pulled the order slips toward himself. "Anything on your burger?"

and her mun's accursed work brain good lord. "Spiders. Guess I need that lunch more than I thought I did. Let's see, probably load it up, then. Lettuce, onion, cheese, bacon, pickles...ketchup, mustard. Better make it two burgers. No, three, and some fries."Did she want to at least try one with spiders? Mayb--no. No, definitely not, why was she even considering that?

haha I wondered"Three burgers - all on one bun, or each on their own?" Miguel asked. "If you want them separate, I can get you one now and stagger the others so they're still hot when you're ready."
no subject
"All on one bun?" she tilted her head a little. "There's something I'd not have thought of. I like where you're head's at, but I'll go with separate, if you don't mind, and, sure, keep 'em staggered, but I don't think you'll have to wait too long in between. I'm...pretty famished."
She gave her stomach a light pat, where, just as expected, it supplied a little growl to emphasize her point.

"Hey, anything to drink?" he asked as he came back up front. "We've got soft drinks and coffee made; anything else'll take a sec. Milkshakes are pretty good, though they're not really thirst-quenching."

He got a stack of glasses and lined them up on the machine, then filled each one about a third full with a different drink. "Where do you want to start?"
