Luke's Diner, Saturday
Miguel showed up to work today to full pots of coffee and industriously working staff.
He immediately didn't trust it.
The busboy skittered past with the specials board, and Miguel gave it a wary look. He kept waiting for the other shoe to drop.
The cook gave him a look. "You okay?"
Miguel gave him that look right back. "I am, are you?"
"You're not complaining about the specials?"
"Why would I?" Miguel asked. They were perfectly reasonable for once.
"No reason!" The cook hurried back to make more waffles.
Miguel shrugged and poured himself a cup of coffee.
Today's Specials:
Toasted coconut waffles with maple cream
Chili cheese cornbread waffles
Coffee waffles
Luke's was open!

He read the specials board and blinked. Chili cheese cornbread waffles didn't sound like breakfast but it sure sounded delightful nonetheless.

"Blood loss - is that from that giant crap weekend with the fish?" he asked. "Or something extracurricular?"

Then he shook his head and shrugged, "I've been through a portal once, and while I managed to set off a whole heap of trouble - blood loss was no part of it. The day I came back, I suddenly wound up in the forest dealing with fish angst."

Kaidan's order came up, and Miguel grabbed it and set it in front of him, along with silverware and a napkin. "There you go."

He ate another bite, "I don't get why there's so much bashing of the pumpkin spice coffee. It doesn't taste a thing like pumpkin but the spices go well with it."
