Sparkle came in to work today, stumbling through the door after an overnight on Coruscant to spend some time with the younglings, settled behind the counter and promptly...

... faceplanted on the counter.

And kind of stayed that way.

For maybe an hour.

He was fine, but it still felt a little bit like everything else was on fire, and if he could just get a nap in edgewise, that would be great. Just one little nap.

Yes. Good.

As a move in their ongoing game of surprises, showing up at Demon Marcus when Sparkle was working wasn't that impressive. Leto would have to compensate for that next time. He stopped in the doorway when he saw Sparkle was having a nap and grinned.

Then he cleared his throat. "Am I interrupting?"

"Nope, nope, nuh-uh, I'm awake," Sparkle muttered. "Super awake."

...

And then, a moment later, he actually was, sitting up with a grin on his face.

"Leto!"

"Good," Leto said, still grinning as he crossed the floor. "I thought I might have to let you sleep."

No, he hadn't. He had been thinking about fun ways to wake Sparkle. Most of them included kisses.

"Noooo. I'm all done sleeping now," Sparkle decreed, slipping out from behind the counter. "If I found out that you'd come all the way here and didn't wake me up, I'd have to call you just to whine at you, you know."

Leto slipped his arms around Sparkle's waist and leaned in to give him a kiss.

"Good. I have some plans that are better if you're nearby and awake."

"You know," Sparkle mused, leaning up for that kiss, "I happen to be both of those things? What plans have you got?"

"They were supposed to be a surprise," Leto said. "Don't you like surprises? And I don't have to leave until tomorrow morning, so we have plenty of time."

[myownface]

"I do happen to love surprises," Sparkle admitted, smiling and leaning in to rest his head on Leto's shoulder for a moment.

... He could just nap there, too. Oh, there was a thought.

"You being here is a surprise," he added. "But it's a good one. Needed this, I think."

Leto nuzzled against Sparkle's hair.

"Will you tell me how you've been? I'd rather not talk about politics myself, but Alice and Hania send their love.

"Send mine back," Sparkle said, smiling a little and just kind of relaxing into Leto's arms. "I miss Hania lots. The younglings on Coruscant make me think about her, you know? I kind of want to just put all the kids into the same room and watch them blow one another's minds."

He grinned for a moment at the thought, and then, after a pause, admitted, "I'm tired."

Oh, Sparkle and kids. Leto smiled.

"Will you tell me about them?"

[myownface]

"Little tiny Force-sensitive kids who've seen too much and finally have a place to belong," Sparkle explained, smiling wryly. "I mean, they can do things I'll never be able to do, but they're still, like, kids? There's a handful of them, they had kind of a rough week, so I've been going back and forth to hang with 'em until stuff kinda evens out again."

He would kill for those kids.

... He'd never have to, probably, since they were way more dangerous than he'd ever be.

Leto guessed Sparkle could understand 'seen too much and finally have a place to belong'. Or at least needing to belong.

"So were they all nice and well-behaved?" Leto guessed not. He hoped not.

Hernando had taken Kaidan's advice. He'd asked the Perk for the most sugary cold coffee beverage that they had and told them who it was for. His eyebrows climbed so high they almost took flight, watching the baristas make the blended coffee drink. They'd almost emptied a bottle of chocolate syrup into it and then they'd added caramel. They also didn't bother with a domed lid when they piled the whipped cream on it.

Hernando assumed that Sparkle must tip really well when he came in. Or possibly he tipped very poorly and the baristas were trying to make his pancreas explode. He couldn't be sure.

There he was, heading into Demon Marcus with the most ridiculous of coffees.

I am open for any amount of awkward either of you chooses to rp.

"Hernaaaandoooooo." Sparkle was more or less awake... ish... by the time Hernando came in. What with the company he'd gotten already. "It's all modern clothing this week, no cravats. Kind of tragic."

A pause, and then he added, "Hi."

Okay, he needed that coffee today.

[hernando_fuentes]

Hernando smiled and handed him the coffee, "Hi, yourself. A large stubborn bird told me you like these."

"I think I have enough cravats for the moment," he answered, "The tragedy is having nowhere to wear them."

[myownface]

"We can always change that," Sparkle replied, smiling faintly as he reached for the offered coffee. "Aww, it's just how I like it!"

Yeah, he tipped really well.

[hernando_fuentes]

Hernando chuckled a little. "I'm sure we could. Perhaps when the weather is a little less hot or humid."

[myownface]

"Or we just go somewhere that is neither of those things," Sparkle mused, looking thoughtfully toward the ceiling before taking a slurp of his sugary monstrosity.

Ah, yes. That right there. That was the good stuff.

"So, how've you been?"

[hernando_fuentes]

"At this time of year, that would be very far north," Hernando smiled, "A month isn't such a long time and by then the weather will be nicer."

He waited for the caffeine to engage. "I'm well. I stopped by to see how you were doing."

[myownface]

"Tired," Sparkle admitted after a moment. "Running laps, you know? It was one thing when I was living on Coruscant and stuff was pretty much normal, but now I'm kinda back here, skipping back when I can to hang out with the kids."

The Jedi were stuck with him, now. Sorry, Jedi.

[hernando_fuentes]

They were very lucky Jedi.

"Is there anything I can do? Any help you need? Do you need to be stolen away for a break?" Hernando asked. He searched Sparkle's face. He did look tired.

[myownface]

Sparkle smiled faintly and ducked his head.

"Honestly, things are quieting down a bit now," he said. "Atton's back on the island, the kids are getting back to their lives, mostly. But... I mean... you all did plenty. Did Kaidan show you the pictures of the kids? They loved the tacos, you know. I have a pretty high bar set for me for Tuesday, now."

[hernando_fuentes]

"He forwarded the picture to me, yes," Hernando smiled fondly, "They looked like the enjoyed their food. It was good to see. I had no hand in the taco portion. That was all Rosalie."

Shaking his head a moment, he brushed the curls back off his forehead. "We didn't know how many children there were. I hope we sent enough?"

[myownface]

That actually earned a little bark of a much-needed laugh.

"Enough? That photo's all of them. There are a few Masters who'll be eating too, but we're going to have Taco Tuesday leftovers for... um, for a while," Sparkle replied, shaking his head a little. "Weeks? Tell Rosalie she went above and beyond, and everyone appreciates it."

Not having to worry about food for a while was kind of amazing.
