Blackstone Foundry and Forge; Wednesday [09/05].
Amaya had to admit, she was feeling incredibly good (and just plain right) now that she'd completed her first sword here on the island, from conception to completion, and, boy, was it a beauty! She hoped Kanan would like it, that it would suit his purposes, but, if not, well...she knew someone out there would and she could fetch quite a few shiny gold coins for it and start one something else for him. She knew he'd likely be around early to pick it up, so she made sure the leather around the hilt was nice and tight and took care of a few little things around the shop until he showed up, not wanting to get too deep into starting the forging of Peter's sword only to be interrupted.
Well, her intention was to take care of a few little things around the shop, but, so help her, she couldn't resist stopping every so often just to hold the sword into the light and admire the way the Tanalorean steel glinted and shifted colors from her tempering work. Sure enough, just as she told him yesterday, if Kanan didn't show up soon to take it off her hands, she might end up just wanting to keep this sword for herself!
The Forge is open!

The Forge is open!

... There would be treats in it for him when Kanan was done, anyway.
"Hey," he called as he peered into the building, "I'm here to see someone about a sword!"
He had no idea what to expect, but it was kind of exciting all the same.

"Oh," said Amaya, turning to grin at Kanan as she whipped it out, twirled it once, then held it up in a way that was definitely intended to show it off as she pretended to consider it carefully, "d'you mean this sword?"
no subject
The blade was green.
no subject
"That was the intention, yes," she admitted, giving the sword another proud little smile before she turned it over, handing it over carefully with the hilt out toward Kanan for him to take. "I was a little worried that the green might be a little...too on the nose, but when it got to working the thing, nothing else seemed to do the trick, so I just stuck with my gut."
no subject
"I like it," he decided, grinning. "What's the metal, anyway? I've never seen anything quite like this before."
Besides 'green.'
no subject
She really could have gone without discovering that last bit.
no subject
"That... sounds like a story. Hopefully you didn't make that discovery because you were working on this?"

"... Cursive?"
It was the best guess he had.

She waved a hand to brush it off. "Not at all!" she insisted. "First sword on a brand new forge has got to be something special by default, and, zounds, we've been talking about it for so long, anything shy of excellence would have been short changing you, anyway. I had fun with it. And save the praise until after you start to use it, that there's the real test of the quality."
no subject
"It's not like anything I've used before," he noted, "but in a good way. It'll be something I can challenge myself with. I've been needing that for a long time."
He nodded to the blade on his back, the loaner that had gotten him through the summer.
"And I suppose you'll be needing this back, too."

"Wait, really?" And glanced back at that sword, hesitating a moment before drawing it in his other hand.
Because of course he was that asshole who could dual-wield longswords.
"That's very generous of you, Amaya," he replied. "Are you sure? I can pay for it."
... He'd be dipping deep for it. But he was working two jobs at the moment, he'd figure something out.

Because there were...so many other places they could go.
"I'm in a nice spot when it comes to money; I made a pretty good deal getting Turtle & Canary and my last house off my hands. A little generosity when you can afford it can go a long way, especially among friends."
no subject
"Well, I have two swords now. All the better for sparring when my students are ready for live steel, and now I know exactly where to point them when they decide it's time to get one of their own."
He put the leaf blade back where it came from on his back, smiled again at the new one, and then nodded at it, "So, how much is this one going to run me?"
He'd had all summer to put aside his savings for it, so at least he wasn't concerned about that.
