Luke's, Sunday
Another Sunday, another day in Luke's House Of Pancakes, starring the kitchen staff who, to Kanan's relief, seemed to be getting that whole 'waffle' thing out of their system so that Sundays could be pancake days, as were right and proper.
Kanan was still giving the specials board a little bit of a side-eye, though.
Welcome To Luke's!
Today's Specials:
Pulled Pork Pancakes with Whiskey Maple Syrup
Banana Rum Pancakes
Beer and Brown Sugar Pancakes
... And The Kitty
"I appreciate your minimal efforts to keep Kitty from getting upset at the specials board," Kanan sighed, "but this one might still be a swing and a miss. Also, I hate you."

"Please tell me," she said, sliding onto her usual stool during her lunch hour, "that the Kitty is just a reference to a special made in honor of the bartender and not that you guys have actually started serving cat meat. Not that there's anything wrong with that! Who am I to judge? I consigned a whole dimension to having flies in their ice cream, I've feasted on the charred remains of human flesh, and I put hot dogs in jello. But if that's not just named for Kitty, I'm gonna kinda get bummed out."
Please don't bum her out, BDG.
"Also, hi."

He leaned forward a little. "Between you and her, the staff in the kitchen is pretty much terrified of my pancake regulars."
no subject
"Oh, and hey," she added, "if you were to go to a fancy dinner party, what sort of food would you want? No reason, just wondering."
He, of course, should know by now that when Summer said 'no reason,' there absolutely was a reason.
no subject
He wrote that down pretty much exact and sent it back to the kitchen, yes. Just because the look on the cook's face could potentially be one of absolute panic at seeing both names on the same order form.
It was beautiful.
"And if I were to go to a fancy dinner party?" He grinned faintly. "Not that I have much experience with those," he noted, "but dessert's always an easy sell for me. I'm not actually very choosy when it comes to food."
Follow up Republic rations with eating out of a few dumpsters for a while, your standards tended to go south pretty fast.

"That somehow managed to be incredibly helpful, and yet not helpful at all in the slightest," she noted.
no subject
Wasn't that helpful?
no subject
"You have to know that just makes me want to make a comment about compliments to each other or 'opposites attract,' right?" she said. "But I'll be good and I won't."
By still saying it anyway in saying that she wouldn't.
no subject
"You're too kind. You really should swing into Caritas sometime and tell Kitty I told you to ask her about her flags."
Yes, he was fully aware of what he had just done.
no subject
And then a squeal.
A squeal that he might realize a second later was actually made of words.
"Kitty's made flags???"

He set his helmet on one of the stools and slid his armor-plated ass onto another, tossing a grin across the counter at Kanan.

Was he letting Kanan know where he was going and who he was going with?
Yup.
no subject
"Same rocks? Different rocks?"
See him be really interested in rocks.
Mostly because it helped to have a starting point if, for whatever reason, he had to fly the Escape in for a rescue.

He took the coffee and sipped it. "Mostly it was a chance to hang out with Liam and meet his girlfriend."
Partly it was to get him off this godforsaken antique of a planet so he could breathe. That, he definitely didn't need to say to Kanan. He already knew.
"Also planning to take Sparkle by the bar later, dump enough alcohol in him to float him, then play his sobercab escort home." Casually. While he sipped his coffee.
no subject
"Sparkle in need of a few drinks, is he?"
A quiet acknowledgment. The 'sober' was the important bit, after all.

"Oh, I bet Seivarden loved that," he noted, instead. "How much of a scene did she cause at the tea shop?"

She considered the specials.
"I'm guessin' none of those will ever get people drunk, huh?"
no subject
He was avoiding them anyway. Didn't want to get the taste in his mouth.
"How goes it, Iris?"
no subject
A beat.
"What do you suggest I get?"
no subject
He nodded toward the specials board.
"Honestly, if you want pancakes, get chocolate chip with mixed berries and whipped cream. That, I've tried. These ones, I have not. They're probably all great, though. How do you feel about beer?"
no subject
But she grinned.
"I'm excited about whatever Sabine's going to do, not going to lie. I gave her a vague direction and then said 'go wild', so it's going to be awesome."
She... should probably warn Sparkle of all of that.

"A strawberry milkshake?" she said, since getting a milkshake here was basically obligatory.
no subject
... It was basically what he'd had for breakfast today himself. So sue him.
