The Park; Late Monday Afternoon [09/10].
Already being restless by nature and filled with a sort of nervous excitement over starting his new job at a freakin' game store tomorrow, with the added bonus of even his weirdest and most bizarre class managing to nudge into his brain that he still wasn't ready to ever be good enough to be a Crownsguard, Prompto needed to get out and run today, and he needed to push himself as hard as he could, even though he regretted fulfilling these needs with each and every step. He made a pretty good course around the island, he swung through some of the trails in the preserve, too, waving or nodding at anyone he may have passed as he pressed forward, reminding himself that, hard as this was on him now, it had once been a lot harder, and if he didn't keep it up, it was only going to get harder again.
So he ran. He ran until he felt he couldn't take a step further, covered in sweat, gasping for air...which lead him to the park, which was perfect, because the park had a lot of nice soft grass and so he plopped onto the ground, sprawled himself out with a groan, dumped the remains of his bottle of water over his face, and then sighed wistfully over how nice it felt to just stop and stare at the sky for a while.
And then he grinned. That was a good run. That was a great run! Probably his best one yet on the island. Yeah, he done good. He done real good.
He thought of maybe trying to see if the ducks would come over here and say hi, but any effort to call them over would require movement. Lying down, good. Movement, baaaad. Grass soft. Prompto content.

Or would, if there wasn't a teenager sprawled on the grass looking like he was attempting to grow roots. He stopped and tilted his head at the spectacle.

So just lifted a hand, enough of a wave that didn't require him to lift his elbow, and sighed a very exhausted kind of tired. "Hey, dude," he said, using, of course, the gender-neutral form of dude, which was totally a thing, don't even. "Real nice day, huh?"

He finally lifted his head, though, to see who he was talking to, especially since he didn't recognize the voice, and Fenris would have to forgive a small moment of staring because...well....that was definitely a look.
He kinda dug it.
"There's also a third option," he added, once his moment of boggling passed, and, groaning, he pushed himself up to be sitting, shoulders slumping forward, hands resting between his still sprawled legs. He hitched a thumb over his shoulder. "Roll me that way toward the clinic. I like that one better than pond. No offense to the pond, of course."

He hadn't looked.
"I suppose that would also be an option. But then, what about the fish?" Might be kidding.
"Are you injured?"

Anymore. Gods willing.

And there was a topic of conversation he was more than happy to move quickly past and never return to again.
"Where you from, dude? I've probably never heard of it, but that's okay, you've probably never heard of mine, either."

He lifted his hands to his head, making a little "pffwhooo" explody sound as he splayed his fingers out, let them wriggle down into stardust. Mind. Blown.

"Whoa, dude," he marveled eventually. "That's, like, a really good point What if...." His brow furrowed in thought. "Maybe...maybe it's, like, a spell or something? Yeah, like a spell that makes us all able to understand each other. Like....you and me, we could be speaking totally different languages right now, but since....since there's like...all this weird magic and stuff here, we can still understand each other!"
That totally made sense, right? And it would be so cool.
And the spell must be broken in the Circle of Life classroom, and that's why that class made absolutely no sense to him.

He...also thought sitting in the grass this whole time, beaming up at the pointy-eared dude like a puppy, was pretty great, too, so....

A shoulder lifted, "I suppose it might not be a curse, but it certainly is no blessing."
He was not a fan of mages, no, but he was finding himself quickly forced to adjust to the difference between his world and this, on the subject.

Half bad, in this case, actually meant fucking amazing, but he was pretty sure Ears over here wouldn't quite agree.
And since he couldn't just go around calling people 'Ears'...
"Hey, what's your name, by the way? Mine's Prompto!"
no subject
"Fenris," he nodded. "The island isn't too terrible."
