Furnado Animal Shelter, Tuesday
Zack was in a pretty darn decent mood today as he came in for work. Thursday last week had been... not great, but Ino's birthday had gone well if-he-did-say-so-himself, and he'd even gotten a new employee at the job fair!
... Hiring Prompto had probably only been a matter of time, honestly. But still!
Today, he was dealing with a kind of perplexing animal surrender. A lizard of some sort, which the vet didn't recognize but speculated it was probably still a baby yet, even though it was roughly the size of a basketball as it curled up to nap. Its scales were in a brilliant shimmering shade of purple, and it had a thick ruff of feathers behind its head. And it was snoozing in Zack's lap, giving off little birdlike hoots as it napped.
He managed to resist for a little while, sure, but it was only a matter of time before he cracked and started patting those pretty feathers, which the big baby bird-lizard-thing seemed to enjoy very much.
