The Perk - Saturday early afternoon
Hernando had received a text that morning and taken his bemused self to the Perk for coffee. There were so many more people on the island than usual. It was interesting but also made him a little bit nervous.
He ordered a large black coffee and took it to a table near the window where he could people watch without looking as though he were staring. Just a man spending some contemplative time over a mug of good coffee. The sun was out and the weather was nice.
After a moment, he went back to the counter and procured a pastry and was sure to tip the baristas. Privately he thought his pastries were of better quality but even so these weren't bad.
He picked apart a danish and continued to people watch.
[Open! OOC note: I'm running Jack so Hernando will be super SP while I drown in pings pls be patient.]

Jack punched him in the side of his ribs. Lightly. Lovingly. As you do.
Kaidan promptly put her in a headlock and walked her the rest of the way to the counter like that. "I'll have my usual. Jack'll have the largest size coffee you have, black as her heart." He sounded more amused than anything.

He wasn't kidding.

"That was an assumption I had made, yes," he answered calmly, "Much to his amusement." He cut a glance at Kaidan, "I see he has told you that story."

Good to know, right? One big old three-day reminder that even if there were people who made like they gave a shit back home, it wasn't like they were going to go out of their way for him. He'd stayed in yesterday and just flat-out avoided it. Today Atton was out with his visitors, because of course even Jedi shit showed up for these things, and Sparkle couldn't stand staying in the apartment one more minute.
So... the Perk. Because nothing said 'shitty family weekend bull' like drowning one's sorrows in a venti it-doesn't-matter-what-kind-of-cappuccino-it's-all-gonna-be-whip-anyway.
He was so stuck in his own head he didn't even bother looking at the other faces in the room as he skulked over to the counter to place his order. Fuck these weekends sideways. With a rake.

Lounging, she tossed an arm over the back of her chair and asked Kaidan loudly enough to be overheard, "Which one on the list of names is he?" Her chin jerked in the direction of the guy at the counter.

He took another sip, "And yes, I've warned him about you. I try to warn everybody about you."

... Was that one of Kaidan's people?
Even the guy cut off from his own reality got people? Fuck you, Fandom. Not that he wasn't happy for Kaidan, but come on. There was 'shitty weekend,' and there was 'rubbing it in.'
Still, he was plastering on a crooked smile as he lifted his cup toward them in greeting.

"Come have a seat, new mate," Jack invited. Her smirk grew. "I have a checklist and your name's on it."

He'd told you she was a bitch.

Yes, Kaidan. She said it out loud, even if there was enough sarcasm to drown a goat in attached to it. Faint, fucker. Go ahead.

If Jack thought she was going to intimidate Sparkle.. The thought made him smile a little more, hidden by most of his coffee mug. Which was filled with the same type of sugar-coma-inducing thing that Sparkle had.

He was definitely saying nothing of the sort. If she and Peter wanted to go be adults in private, that was between them, but he was not sending his friend under that particular bus. No way, no how.

Another sip. "Nice to meet you. So, you're Peter. The one between Mitsuwhatthefuck and Sparkle."

She thumbed toward Kaidan, "I made the mistake of asking if he had friends here. He answered. In alphabetical fucking order, if you can believe it." She snorted, "You've met him. You can probably believe it of his uptight ass."
