Astrid was hoping there wasn't a whole lot of work for her to do at the shop today; for not having really done anything all day yesterday except sit in a holding cell, she was feeling incredibly drained. The whole thing had just been a mess; she'd been there when Norman came in and she was there for a long time after he'd gotten all this stuff cleared, because of all the difficulty in getting through to her case worker, and even once they did, the whole thing got messier and really became a shining example of the mess that was the California state foster system. Ultimately, it boiled down to this: it wasn't an issue unless the owner of the shop wanted to press charged, and if she did, then that would start a whole mess of complicated paperwork, going back and forth, she would definitely be sent back home and either put in with another family or, even worse, one of the state facilities.

So it was a good thing the owner didn't want to press charges. But even that was complicated to parse out, because the owner was currently a squirrel.

But they worked it out...eventually...with no charges, but an agreement to have Astrid work off the cost of replacing the window. That was fine. Astrid wasn't averse to work, especially when she knew she was making up for something.

The whole thing had been draining, though, and worrisome, because her mother would definitely be hearing about it, even if she couldn't do anything about it. And then there was the almost obsessive urge to pick at and scratch at her new ink, the oleander tattoo she'd given herself after she'd done Norman's ghost, which she was only realizing now was pretty stupid of her to do, but it was too late now.

At least the flowers today seemed to have all turned themselves a coppery shade of red, which she could only assume was a small gesture of approval for her new hair.
