The Perk - Monday late morning
After an intense run and multiple reps of stairs, and it should be noted, a shower necessary for the public good, Kaidan hiked over to the Perk for coffee.
He did his usual thing and told the baristas to surprise him. The result was a hot beverage in a large mug with foam shaped into..
"Is that supposed to be a Loth cat?" Kaidan asked. There were many attempts at a straight face from behind the counter, "You guys know that wasn't me, right? That was Kanan. I haven't turned into an animal yet. The other K-an name, but not me."
He looked at the foam and facepalmed. "I can't drink that. I mean, come on."
The barista behind the counter sighed and took the drink away, scraping off the foam. She added whipped cream instead and dusted it with cinnamon over a little bat decal before handing it back.
"Thanks. As far as I know, none of my friends turn into bats."
Kaidan took the mug and camped out in a comfy chair by the window. He fired up his Omni Tool in read/write mode and began scanning through the latest data he'd been sent.

There really was only so much one could accomplish at the station when in possession of paws rather than hands. So eventually Liam had taken his leave of Rosa and gone on to patrol the streets of Fandom. Which, he had to admit, was easier in some ways while shaped like this. Spotting Kaidan in the window as he passed by the Perk, he darted in to the coffee shop the next time the door opened, and over to Kaidan.
“Mrr.”
How were you today, Kaidan?
no subject
Probably no, though it would be amusing if true.
no subject
(For the record, that first time had been three months ago.)
Yes, Verity had been kind enough to procure some catnip tea for him while he was stuck like this, but he was hardly developing a habit.

Kitty-shaped anyone, however, was going to get asked. Now that he knew it was actually a person in there. Of course, all cats think they're people, but here at least they actually usually were.
Kaidan supplied the scritching. "While I'm kind of glad to have had two weeks off of wacky island fun, starting to be a little jealous of all the people who've turned into animals. Zack bets wolf for me, by the way. That's two for dog."

The look he gave Kaidan was a far more smug one, now, along with a twitch of his tail. Called it, definitely.

Although... was he thinking adorable European badger, or meet-you-in-a-back-alley American badger?

"Hopefully whatever I turn into has a neck big enough to accommodate my dog tags," Kaidan tapped them through his shirt, "That way people will know it's me. Otherwise, I might have to take up some form of interpretive dance."
no subject
... Although the interpretive dance would certainly be something to see.
no subject
Could be teasing.
Could be threatening to do a silly little badger dance in your office someday.

Because if you thought for a hot second, Kaidan, that Liam would not take out his Global and record such a thing...

And it was adorable.
"Uh huh," Kaidan agreed, for all the possible things that meow could have meant, "and then I'd chase the troopers around biting at their ankles."
Their..armored.. ankles.
no subject
Did you want to break your teeth, Kaidan? Because that's how you'd break your teeth.
no subject
As a badger, he'd almost be obligated to try.

"They seem like mostly good guys, anyway. I might feel a little bad later," he admitted.

He didn't actually know. He'd never seen them without the headgear on.

He'd witnessed Kanan's reaction at seeing Stance. He knew his friend avoided the troopers in town and now, well, now he knew it wasn't just the Imperial uniform.
Kitty scritches, more to soothe himself than Liam. Then he changed the subject.
"Do things get crazier around Halloween?"
no subject
The question got a bit of a quizzical headtilt as Liam tried to figure out how to answer given that he couldn't actually talk at the moment.
Waking up last Halloween as a vampire of sorts would certainly fall under the domain of 'crazy', he supposed. But he had no idea how that compared to years past. And aside from being on-theme for the day, wasn't terribly unusual for Fandom weird in general, either.

There were certainly worse things to be turned in to, but yeah. Speech was one of those things he was missing right about now.
