The Park, Friday Afternoon
You would think, given the fact that today seemed to be hell-bent on being rainy, that there was clearly an oncoming thunderstorm looming not far off at all, that Kanan would have picked today especially to do his weekly training back in the warehouse.
You'd be wrong. Today he was out in the park, throwing all of his focus into running through lightsaber forms, the rain sending steam curling up from his blade and the wet grass challenging his footing at every step. Which he would insist up and down was the whole point of being out here; having to train on every terrain. He couldn't afford to assume that he'd only ever be fighting on nice, even concrete, after all.
So, there you had it. Friday training was going to be a soggy one this week. Wet Jedi alert.
[OOC: It's been a while since he's done stubborn lightsaber training in the rain! Open!]

Where he'd have acorns falling on him instead, but that was fine.
"Rey! Hey, how goes it?"
It was a shame she couldn't see him right then. The whole look was faintly reminiscent of a drowned Wookiee.
no subject
Besides wet.
no subject
Wet.
"Training, as usual," Kanan reported. "Decided to do a little bit of work outside before the winter sets in in earnest."
Yeah, that was the sound of thunder in the distance, what of it?

"I... might have."
He paused a moment.
"It's Friday. I train on Fridays."
But indoors was still absolutely an option, Kanan.
no subject
She missed him.

Yes. The answer was yes.
"It gets boring training in a warehouse all the time."
no subject
no subject
"Significantly less boring," Kanan laughed. "The lightning's still got a bit of distance yet, though. Right now, it's mostly just rain and noise."

"... Wet, mostly," Kanan admitted. "The challenge is keeping a firm foothold on the wet grass, today. Especially if I start getting into the acrobatics."

Then he sighed, put on rain gear, braced himself mentally for trees, and headed to the park.
His first question was an obligatory, "Kanan, what the everloving hells?" He stabbed a finger upward at the rain, "Isn't this the exact reason you stole a warehouse?"
no subject
"Absolutely is," Kanan agreed, lifting his saber and pivoting on his heel. "This, the heat, the snow. I'll come in from it when the lightning gets close enough to worry me."
Yeah, somebody was always, always going to be a stubborn ass. He'd die stubborn.

Then he went and picked up a wooden sword and settled into the opening stance. He was here, anyway. Might as well do the thing.

Kanan just chuckled and shook his head, moving into the next steps of his form. His foot caught a slick patch of mud. He course-corrected almost by reflex.
"I would probably even wear it, in weather like this."
No promises.
no subject
It was meant as a joke but he was also mentally pretty checked-out at the moment.
That, of course, meant he was doing pretty well with the sword forms. He was paying exactly zero attention to what he was doing.
no subject
"Which is always," Kanan supplied, smiling crookedly. "We've met, haven't we?"
no subject
After another moment, he said, "I'm totally getting you galoshes with cat faces on them."
no subject
"I can't train in galoshes with cat faces on them, Kaidan," Kanan said patiently, and then crouched and launched himself backwards in a flip, landing in a puddle with a muddy splash. One of his feet almost skidded out from under him, and he hissed between his teeth as he righted himself.
Exactly why he was out here doing this.
"Much as you'd like to see me try."
no subject
He worked the form. He wasn't having trouble with the terrain, body moving automatically to compensate. Then again, he also wasn't doing flips with a lit lightsaber.
"I have faith in you. You'd find a way."
no subject
"The kind of opponents I go up against probably aren't going to be paying much attention to my boots," Kanan pointed out. "But I suppose there's a thought."
It wasn't gonna happen.
no subject
"You're getting the kitty boots." Kanan's feet were freakishly large. He idly made a mental note to find somewhere that did custom galoshes and filed it away.
no subject
"Great," Kanan sighed. "Always wanted a pair of kitty boots."
He really did not.
