Furnado Animal Shelter, Tuesday
Zack walked into the animal shelter for his shift today, did his rounds of morning chores, and then sat himself down by the counter and sighed.
Mr. Winkles, the gerbil in the Habitrail setup there on the counter, stared beadily out at him.
Zack stared quietly back.
...
"Fine."
And that was how the rest of the day at Furnado was spent with a gerbil in a hamster ball, rolling around the floor and... mostly just trying to run over Zack's boots. He didn't seem to notice. He was on the phone arguing with a gnome at Portalocity again. It was kind of a losing battle, but he'd keep pleading just so long as they didn't hang up on him.
